USMANOV

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

That's an Uzbek "businessman" sledgehammer to crack a nut. I'm not convinced that the desperation to be rid of Wenger should lead us to look on Usmanov as something good for Arsenal in the long term. We would be swapping one dictator for another.
augie wrote:I cannot believe that donaldo actually needed to respond to that question Shocked Yes wenger must take the majority of the blame for our current state but he has a board above him that has allowed him absolute control and have made no effort to pull him back into line or hold him accountable for his ongoing fcuk ups Evil or Very Mad Other issues like 6.5% increase, phw's constant embarassing rants to the media and an absolute disgraceful strategy of personal vendetta's being more important that the interests of the club - this was started by fizman ( Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad ) and has been continued by kroenke, phw and all the other c**ts on the board and this policy has seen the expulsion of DD and the continued exclusion of a man that owns almost 30% of the club and for the life of me I cannot get my head around how that can happen Rolling Eyes Evil or Very Mad banghea
I understand that position (althougth some things like PHW being a muppet aren't that important), but I'm ever the optimist that the Board will see sense with Wenger this season. Presumably if Usmanov did attempt a take over it would drag on for months and would not be a quick win.

One other point, and not wanting to sound like a conspiracy theory nut, Babatunde's original article came from the Standard. Are Lebedev and Usmanov chums?

I was going to write this as a topic but it fits here.
I get the impression that when Kronk turns up for meeting he is not talking about the team but topics like how much merchandise we have sold and the turn over in profit.
Our board sold us out to the devil but most fans did not want Usmanov so they get what they deserve.
I always did so I hope he gets rid of the useless yank before fans start to realise they Arsenal FC are only interested in fans money and not much else.
God we get bombarded with emails and post saying buy this and that and the money gets reinvested where ?
Um not the team thats for sure

Excellent point supergeorge

in my opinion it is much more important to get rid of Kroenke than Wenger. If Wenger doesnt perform with Usmanov in charge then get rid (and indeed the Russian wouldn't give him that long anyway)

Kroenke has put all his support behind Wenger and has made it perfectly clear he wont sack him. If you want Wenger out then you have to get Kroenke out first.

I remember the "gooner" did a back page cover demonising Usmanov, based on, an at the time current movie, "Ratatouille" something along the lines "he is after your club"

How times have changed, he would now be welcomed with open arms.

Its funny; after our capitualtion in the 06/07 season I was advocating quite loudly that Arsenal needed a major backer / sugar daddy a la Chelski, to build a squad big enough of going the distance. I was largely shot down down by more "enlightened" Gooners then me who were saying that once Roman gets banged up for all the henius crimes he had commited Chelski would be fucked. I was told Arsenal were better then that, and I think I was even told to go and support chelski too.

Well fast forward to today. We've made some fat profits under our self sustaining model, and won precisly fuck ALL to boot. Ticket prices have gone up 6.5% and the club are trying to fleece me for over a tonne to buy a fucking replica shirt in a tin.

I wish I could speak to some of those people who had a pop at me in 06 as I would take a massive shit in all of their faces.

I was right then and im right now.

Money is the only language that now talks in football, and the big billionaire investers are here to stay. UEFA and FIFA will do fuck all about it (financial fair play rules , Pah, do me a favour) as they're all on the gravy train to bungsville too.

Usmonov may be a crook but the fact remains he's still richer then Abromovich, and he wants to spend money. Get the fucker on board and lets start trading some EQUAL punches with city, munichs & chelski when it comes to the transfer market.

Times have changed and we have been left miles behind.

If he gets on board by January (wishful thinking) then hello Gotze, Martin, Hazard in red & white shirts.

Rant over.

Maybe he will surprise us all in the near future and make Kroenke an offer he can't refuse.
Kroenke must be feeling the recession that has hit the yanks and maybe he would jump at a way out. Whilst Usmanov's wealth has increased by almost 25% over the last 12 months.
Here's hoping.
i can see that happening with the yank walking away with a nice profit.
I too have a feeling this will happen, but only when it is right for Kroenke. Could be a few years until he sells.
