Its a disgrace. Whats worse is that this goes on all the time at peacefull protests, and the victims get labled as anarchists and trouble makers, yet so many have done sod all other that being caught up in police heavy handedness.

They're big boys when it comes to an old man, but i didnt see many of them on the streets of london while my city was being burned.

Was he warned for standing?

If so, how many times?

If he was warned, and continued to stand, then he should have expected to be removed from the ground.
If he did have a heart condition as he claimed, then why was he even trying to put himself into a confrontational situation?

I agree with you as regards to video evidence mate, but you can just hear the reaction of everyone around him. This is where coppers need to use common sense. EVERYONE around him are saying leave him, clearly not annoyed by his behaviour, so what do they do, ignore the public and basically antagonise even more people. Thats from what i could see and hear anyway. I hear no one near him moaning about his standing. And if that was the reason, then they overstep the mark.

But the issue is not about him annoying people around him.

It is him standing, which is widely known to be illegal for most of the game.

Supposedly he is doing so in protest at the away fans being allowed to stand.
It is usual for away fans to stand at some grounds, and not be cautioned, which is not fair on home fans but it happens.

But if this fan was warned clearly, and warned a couple of times, that standing would result in him being ejected, then he should have thought properly about getting himself into a confrontation if as he says, he has a heart condition.

If no one else near him is standing, the he can see the game for which has paid for.

He should take his standing campaign to the FA, PFA, and all the other organisations who would look at it, rather than trying a doomed one man protest in the middle of a game, which in turn does annoy the other people around him when the stewards and police block their view.

I am in favour of safe standing areas, and I am aware of stewards being heavy handed, but want to see more footage of this incident to see what actually happened.

As Quartz said, can't be sure what happened before lights, camera, action on the mobile phone but still over reaction from the OB and the club enforcers.
Days of wading in and digging out are well gone as slapping some one in a stadium and in public in general are treated entirely different by the authorities and people just don't want the hassle, too much to lose in most cases. Just further example of needless big brother carry on and another nail in the coffin of the football experience as we used to know it.
