WENGER interview admits to summer of discontent
The below article sheds more light on this summer.
Adds to the confusion about how Benayoun and Mertesacker say their deals were lined up prior to the Man Utd loss.
No doubt Wenger under unprecedented pressure.
From today's ARSEBLOG:
Wenger: Half the squad wanted to leave this summer

In a stunningly frank interview with French radio station RTL (English translation here), Arsene Wenger has admitted that up to half his first team wanted to quit the Emirates this summer as widespread discontent ravaged his pre-season plans.
Having sanctioned the sale of long-term stars Cesc Fabregas, Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy and Emmanuel Eboue and with the likes of Denilson, Nicklas Bendtner, Carlos Vela and Manuel Almunia demanding regular first team football elsewhere, the Frenchman was left with little choice but to bolster his squad by entering into a frantic spending spree which saw five new players recruited in the final 48 hours of the transfer window.
Reflecting on the unprecedented upheaval and the toil it took on his side’s stability in the opening weeks of the season, Wenger ruefully reflected:
“This summer was the most agitated I’ve ever known. I had half the players in the dressing room who wanted to leave.
“You prepare a season, we go to Asia, we don’t know who is coming, the players who are still there are asking themselves what is happening and if an earthquake is hitting the club. It’s extraordinarily difficult.
“I think that what saved us is that we are a club which is extremely solid and united. There are many other clubs who would have exploded.â€

Hilarious what a wanker the guy truly is. If half his players wanted out then why did he spend the summer telling fans that 'he expected no one to leave'? Why does he insult fans like this?
At which other so-called big club have you EVER heard the manager come out and state that half of his major players were all agitating for a move? Tell me which other big club you have ever heard this happen?!
The funniest part of his interview of course is where he claims his summer signings have worked out well. Of course they have, just look at the league table. Benayoun LOL. Fat Santos LOL. Arteta ha ha ha ha. Choo Young ROFL. He'll play more games in the Korean army (and will find his level there too!).
Still. At least bwe got Marianna Chamakh and Diaby to come back....

Spot on! critism fair enough, those that think its best for him to move on fair enough. everyones enititiled to their opinion, thats what being a fan is all about, but have some respect. The name calling and disrespect towards our manager, the greatest manager in our history, is disgraceful.rigsby wrote:Shut up mate. He's not a wanker. He's a football manager. insulting the fans? your stupid if you really see it like that. what else would you have him say? if half the team wanted to leave, i totally understand why he would be saying stuff like that in the media, i wouldnt critise him for that and I dont see it as insulting the fans. My only critism of him and the board (who are totally to blame for our stagnation and decline imo) would be that they havent been more decisive and ruthless in getting these quitters out and replacing them with real quality. If we knew all these pussys wanted out, then fine get em' out, get some propper players in! We should have been on the case from transfers window day 1 showing these players who want out whos the bossBabatunde wrote:If half his players wanted out then why did he spend the summer telling fans that 'he expected no one to leave'? What's disgraceful is his £7m a year wage bill and all he can do is lie to us and not produce a half decent football teamSupamac wrote:Spot on! critism fair enough, those that think its best for him to move on fair enough. everyones enititiled to their opinion, thats what being a fan is all about, but have some respect. Its a massive insult to blatently lie to all of us. If he didnt know what would happen say nothing or say a watered down version rather than lying through his fucking teethSupamac wrote:insulting the fans? your stupid if you really see it like that. what else would you have him say? if half the team wanted to leave, i totally understand why he would be saying stuff like that in the media, i wouldnt critise him for that and I dont see it as insulting the fans.Babatunde wrote:If half his players wanted out then why did he spend the summer telling fans that 'he expected no one to leave'? So when arsene was sitting in press confrernces getting hammered with questions about whos leaving, whos next out etc you think he should have said something different? Arsene was just trying to calm the growing media storm and send a message to the players. We all knew certian players were on the way out but he has to try show strenght. I dont blame him for that at all, I knew what the score was so did you and every other gooner. What else would you have had him say..."err yes nasri & clichy are gone, fabregas has barca in his dna, arshavin couldnt care either way and theres 10 other pussys who want out now too". I dont see what other option he had really.flash gunner wrote:Its a massive insult to blatently lie to all of us. This is what I truly love about AKBs. Always defending papa Wenger by resorting to absolutes...Supamac wrote:insulting the fans? your stupid if you really see it like that. what else would you have him say? if half the team wanted to leave, i totally understand why he would be saying stuff like that in the media, i wouldnt critise him for that and I dont see it as insulting the fans. Of course, he never had the option of shutting his overpaid lying gob and just saying 'no comment' hmmm? Fergie seems to have no problem telling the press to do one if he doesn't want the question answered.
Imagine that. A club with a wage bill of over £124 million and yet, all the big players are desperate to leave. Things have gotta be real shit when Flapianski, Denilson, Bendtner et al are slating the ambition of your club, and then when on top of that all the big players are wanting out.
It shows you are running the place comically into the ground!

You really ought to have paid attention in your Grade 4 Fisher Price English school class.
If Arsene cannot handle a volley of tough media questions and just deflect the questions (INSATEAD OF LYING), or if he isn't intelligent enough to answer 'no comment', then the twat shouldn't be in the job. £7 mil a year and the best this retard can do in the face of media pressure is LIE? Nope. Wenger OUT.
