The Banner

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Wanna know something? The producer on TalkSport is my best friend from childhood! Was best man at my wedding and is a die in the wool Gooner.
He told me the whole story yesterday. He texted me in the afternoon to say that you had apparently pulled out of the interview and asked me to PM you on OLG....Then he texted me a bit later to say it was AKBs trying to derail and silence you!

I'll buy you a pint for your superb performance on TS mate, very well done.

Next thing is, I am going to get my mate to put me on it.
You might think Babatunde sounds deranged on a forum but in real life the argument will be very different....
Let Us All Kow When You're On if there's time and you can that is..... :barscarf:

I'm done, finished, I can stand no more of 'Arsenes Arsenal'.

I guess, if I'm honest, the end for me came when we lost to Birmingham in the Cup final. Since that day I've wanted to believe in him but in reality that was the day I lost all hope.

Even before that point though I'd always been slightly critical of the way we never retained titles-blaming it on Arsene tactics etc-and always felt under him we'd never win a european trophy. In those days though the 'trade off' was seeing us really compete donestically with some great players playing some genuinely great football. Since 2004 though each passing season has seen a little more of a decline, missed opportunities, and world-class players starting to leave in their prime.

Yet even up to that Birmingham game I always looked forward to Arsenal games and celebrated every goal like a loon! Since that Cup final though I've just not been the same. I don't get half as excited any more, the only goal I've really celebrated was Chamberlains the other night (he's going to be some player!) and sadly there's a very VERY small part of me that wants to see us concede and even lose games! Can you believe that? I feel terrible for even discussing it but I know its the ONLY way there's any chance that Arsene Wenger will leave the Club-which is now what I want more than anything. Because with him in charge there is no hope that we'll ever really compete or win trophies again. He's a poor man-manager, terrible at tactics, and will not admit he's ever wrong. I hate listening to him and everything he now says irritates the *%^@ out of me And the board can't escape criticism here by effectively giving him a job for life. Ridiculous-absolutely ridiculous.

As for the fans! What the hell is wrong with them? We're one of the biggest most famous clubs in world football yet even now some can't see how bad we've become. Its their fawning over Wenger and willingness to accept anything he or the Club does that's caused some of this. No other supporters of a big Club would accept this apart from us and it maddens and frustrates the life out of me. I mean just how bad does it have to get? 8-2, 4-3, 4-4....no problem, 'in Wenger we trust.....'

Their ambitions for this Club are simply pathetic yet sadly its their support the Club tends to hear most (witness the 'one Arsene Wenger' chants at recent games). Even the falling crowds are blamed on the economical difficulties surrounding the world rather than the fact we're just not that good any more.

The only way I'll start to enjoy Arsenal games again is if were to go on a fantastic run over twelve months culminating in a second place finish and a super run in the Champions league. I'd have to admit I was wrong and take the flak that comes my way. That wont happen though so I'll have to wait until Wenger AND/OR the board (hopefully both as they're all culpable to some extent) leave the Club. Get owners in who think about the football first and the finances second. And get a manager who does defending, does tactics, and doesn't make endless excuses for his own shortcomings.

So whilst I can't deny I feel a little uncomfortable abut this banner I totally understand and agree with the sentiments behind it. I also thought Frank Butcher spoke really well on the radio and made some great points the other day.

Let's hope that this is not only your first but your last.

So did it go up today? Was in block 3, looked around all game.
You absolute fucking moron.

You are exactly the sort of arsene fc wanker that this fella is talking about.
Most of us can understand the pain which he's talking about and want change for the good of the CLUB we support but you fucking sheep are so fucking blind.
I bet when the deluded old c**t fucks off to PSG after he's rightfully sacked, you'll all suddenly start supporting them.

The leader is good, the leader is great.

I dont go there very much anymore ,I started it but its run by others since I moved back to England in 2005 and now I dont have the time or the inclination mainly because of the new baby.
The Bar is great in that it has all the shirts posters and the like but it does lack a bit of atmosphere sometimes so I tend to watch from home.
This being said his name rings a bell so i think i might have ,dark hair late 20's ??
yeh thats him, he is a recruiter out there.

Whatever your views on what SWL, Mikey B and Frankbutcher et al are trying to achieve through the banner, BSM or fc not plc, one thing is for certain: What they are doing is forcing the issue kicking and screaming from under the brooding surface, right into the full glare of the public eye.

This club has been sleepwalking itself into this nightmare scenario since 2006 and the tipping point has been reached in many "sitting on the fence" fans like myself. Enough is enough now and the winds of change are upon us. The deep routed issues surrounding this club need to be addressed (not just in-house behind closed doors, but with consultation with the fans) urgently. So even if the above mentioned don’t achieve their goals in the short-term they are to be thoroughly commended for their efforts in breaking the silence around the club, and smashing this psuedo arsenal doctrine of "thou shall not speak ill of the messiah wenger" . I already feel that the banner, BSM, FC not PLC movements have the board and manager watching their every step now, and they now know they cant roughshod over us ‘mugs’ the fans with all this “mental Strengthâ€

until large groups of fans at the emirates start chanting wenger out songs nothing will change. The efforts of frank and SWL are fantastic but until there is vocal anti wenger and board chanting then their efforts will be in vain. Sounds awful but I feel that we need to be thrashed on our home pitch before the crowd will start turning againest arsene I truly do and even then.

God I hate these times I really do

Good post, I've said similar in the past that there needs to be vocal anger against him both at the bowl and aways. Until that happens it's more of the same as the cult followers blindly follow dear leader into mid table obscurity.

Thing is I doubt very much you will get large groups of fans singing anti Wenger songs because the majority of the fans that to to the souless bowl are *word censored* who think there was no Arsenal before Wenger came along, you will find that a load of old school Arsenal no longer go for a number of reasons, therefore its full of *word censored* who want to suck Wenger off and cant see that hes a *word censored*
