As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
all these positive comments on here are beginning to scare me
for me a few concerns after yesterday though.
1) we failed to keep a clean sheet for the 2nd league home game in a row.
the defence is still not as it could be. maybe we will have to accept that until Sagna returns. hopefully the return of Vermaelen will make the main difference though
2) Walcott and Arshavin still look poor. what is up with them?
3) why are we still playing Chamakh??? I would have thought Wenger must have realised by now that he is a useless waste of space.
anyway looking forward to tomorrow and hopefully Park and the Ox can make their claims for a place in the first team
What is really frustrating is that Mertesacker is not getting to play with a settled defence.
I saw on MOTD that Newcastle have played the same back 4 for every league game this season. How come they don't get injured like we do??
I think Mertesacker alongside Vermaelen with Sagna and Gibbs or Santos is as good as anything in the PL defensively. Sadly we are just not getting to see it
Was in clock end block 24 it was great fun to watch their neanderthal fans getting kicked out one by one, I think the first one was ejected after 9 minutes!
We lacked spark and creativity, except for Ramsey's exquisite chip for the first goal.
Thought we actually generally defended well against the long ball, free-kicks and throw wins, winning a lot of headers for once but for their goal we allowed them three free headers.
Until RVP came on we looked very unconvincing - this is were we are at the moment, a team that will struggle to beat Stoke at home.
Still not convinced by Gervinho but he scored one and set two up so not much more he could've done to be fair!
Just glad we got another 3 points as I fear we will get nothing at Chelsea next weekend.
Did anyone in the North Bank lower see the big hold up with the 'WE ARE THE ARSENAL' flag as it went across the lower tier just before kick off?
There was one guy right behind the goal, who refused to let it go over his head, and held up the whole thing for about thirty seconds, meaning that by the time it reached the corner, the game had already started.
He was screaming at me 'this happens every week! I can't see! I want to watch the warm up!'. Predictably, everyone just stared at him in stunned silence, until he abandoned his one man protest.

Walcott is shit and Arshavin is a lazy bastard.Hope that answers your question
Thought the defence did OK. Even Djourou did some good things, at the back and in attack, but like most on here I'm always worried that he's only ever a few moments away from a calamity. I'm happy with Mertesacker and am looking forward to seeing him settle in with TV.
I actually thought Chamakh put a lot of effort in and, with his back to goal, he received and laid off the ball well (we certainly don't have any other player capable of this). However, he seems so completely devoid of confidence in front of goal that he may be beyond salvation.
The Forehead showed good skill, pace, strength and effort and hopefully Theo may realise that playing in a front 3 is not the same as being a 'wide' player.
I hated seeing Song walk out at the head of the team.
Like others have mentioned (for years!) we are clearly in need of a def.mid and top-quality striker.
At this moment in the season, results are much more important than performances. I briefly saw glimpses of what this team can do yesterday but yes it was only Stoke.
Ramsey looks to have found a bit of confidence with that goal against Marseilles. Centre backs played well considering recent performances vs Stoke.
Don't think a performance like this will be anywhere close to getting a result next Saturday.
Couldn't believe it when the Ole chants started with about 5 minutes to go . I was still thinking that if Stoke equalise now they'll probabaly still get a draw . Maybe I'm just a pessimist .

I saw a mad scramble to get it pulled down after the whistle had blown lol. There are some fucking morons out there :awnker:
Thank god for Van Persie. Gevinho played really well also.
Chamkah is just a useless waste of time.
He really needs to find talent if Van Persie decides to leave.
