How on earth did you come to that conclusion. Look at both of those comments:Barriecuda wrote:Too many people are all happy days now that we've won a few on the trot. Won't be winning any hearts and minds now. Keep the banner in storage for a while longer.
And to be honest, Wenger can stay if we keep winning - all the way to a title.
However, what saddens me is that many fans have become quite happy with our results of late. It hides the fact that we are not, in any capacity, challenging for the Prem. So what if we're doing well now - we bloody well should be against Sunderland, Marseille, Stoke and Bolton - the real point is that this club has enough financial power to consistently be a proper threat to the Premiership, and yet we are not.
If Arsenal came out and said "2011-12 is a season we are aiming to grow our young players and are not expecting to mount a title challenge" I could accept that and would be more than happy to see what Wenger could do with our group. But if they're going to say "we can win the league", I expect to see us be an actual threat... or else, the manager should be held accountable.
"Fans have been quite happy with our results of late" - well what would you expect when you've won 7 games from 8, compared to the dross that went before. Unless it was 8 from 8 is it actually possible to be happier with the results ?
"It hides the fact that we are not challenging for the Prem". Err, does it really ? Funny when I look at the table I see a team only one point better off than Norwich, Stoke and QPR with a minus goal difference, and 12 points behind the leaders after only 9 games.
I don't think too many at the AGM believed that recent results were hiding the fact that we weren't challenging for the title.
The fact we've won games recently, almost exclusively against teams we would be expected to beat, doesn't cloud even my 11 year old's judgement. But it is quite possible to be "happier" in the context that we were 18th at one stage and shipping goals at the likes of Blackburn Rovers.
It's still Gazidis out, Wenger out......just that the banner would have had a a bigger impact on the 'middle ground' of supporters when we were 18th as opposed to 7th.

You didnt question him after we got hammered 8-2 at old toilet, why question him if we lose heavily here? For what its worth i think it will be tight, i can imagine us going 2-1 down and conceding a third on the break late on.Red Member wrote:Tomorrow will be a test of how far the team has come.
if we suffer another heavy defeat even I will begin to question Wenger BUT I dont anticipate a heavy defeat. Any result, win, draw or narrow loss is possible tomorrow I think.
Besides, we've already won our big game of the week against Bolton

all very true. And for you people in marketing that use terms like window of opportunity. the time for this banner has since been passed.
Although i agree with the ideas behind this, and current results only mask a total lack of amition by the club to invest in truely world class players but enforce us to pay world class prices. I can only see grief and ridicule for anybody holding this banner soon.
You had your chance but save it for a rainy day....................... Soon

Totally different circumstances tomorrow.LDB wrote:You didnt question him after we got hammered 8-2 at old toilet, why question him if we lose heavily here?Red Member wrote:Tomorrow will be a test of how far the team has come.

For the United game the team had key suspensions, injuries and they were tired after playing in Italy midweek.
For this one the first team got rested midweek, nobody is suspended, the injuries are clearing up AND we have bought some top class players like Mertesacker and Santos who will come in tomorrow.
Can we please just back off on this banner thing - I believe these guys will display the banner at the right time so as to gain maximum exposure but often shock factor is needed to push this thing forward and it wont get that as long as people on here keep raising the issue.
Btw will those of you saying that the opportunity has passed still feel that way tomorrow evening if we get totally outclassed tomorrow ? I dont believe that a high scoring rout is the only way the gulf in quality will be exposed cos it is quite feasible that they could totally overrun us tomorrow and only beat us 2-0

Ok so you think the manager has no questions to answer regarding how we were sent out to play that day? I agree the injuries and suspensions made it even more implausible that we'd get anything there then if we were full strength but there is no excuse for an Arsenal 11 to put in a showing like that.Red Member wrote:Totally different circumstances tomorrow.LDB wrote:You didnt question him after we got hammered 8-2 at old toilet, why question him if we lose heavily here?Red Member wrote:Tomorrow will be a test of how far the team has come.

Ferguson demonstrated after their mauling by man city why man united has a mentality of winners whereas we are gutless losers. He took full responsibility for the dreadful showing and while he had an easy to excuse to use, he refused to pass the blame or let his players think it was all the fault of the red card. You know Wenger would have been all over that excuse like a cheap suit.
"I think overall we were in control of the game with 11 men but with 10 we suffered a little bit physically in the second half and credit to them they were efficient in the final third but overall i believe we have quality.." zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
As is the Stamford Bridge norm for us. At least we'll be able to hearaugie wrote:Can we please just back off on this banner thing - I believe these guys will display the banner at the right time so as to gain maximum exposure but often shock factor is needed to push this thing forward and it wont get that as long as people on here keep raising the issue.

"I do not accept that the defeat was the same as last year" (despite it being exactly like it....)
"You could see that we have played many matches recently"
"We live in a world where people make instant judgements"

it is in your post why the manager had no questions to answer about the performace at Old Trafford - we had already won the most important game of the season a few days earlier!!!!
the last few matches have proved that to be true.
now that we have qualified for the CL and have started well it has given the team confidence and enabled us to go on a bit of a run.
without qualifying we would be playing teams like Shamrock Rovers in the Europa league and confidence would still be rock bottom probably.

What the hell kind of point is this? We qualified for the champions league therefore its acceptable to bend over and be humiliated against one of our former rivals?Red Member wrote:it is in your post why the manager had no questions to answer about the performace at Old Trafford - we had already won the most important game of the season a few days earlier!!!!

You're as small minded as the people who run and manage Arsenal these days. Im sure thats a compliment to you though so congratulations, i guess.
Incredible.

so you would rather have rested players against Udinese and now be in the Europa league so that we could have gone to Old Trafford at full strength and lost 1-0 like we did last season???
yeah that would be really helpful
you have to look at the big picture.
I would have personally taken a 20-0 defeat at OT if it meant that we could get in the CL this season.
