Andre Santos

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

the thing is he won't be up against players the calibre of Mata every game.
Clichy wouldn't have done any better I don't reckon.

watch him go tonight against Marseille. And he also needs a bit of time to adjust to the pace of the PL.

Also it was his fat arse that blocked Mata's shot at 4-3.

 :o :o funniest thing the WUM has said apart from "santos is world class"

The only pace Santos has is "dead slow". You can't adjust that without anabolic steroids! Maybe he could chat to Toure about losing a stone or two?? 8)

Well let's see what tonight brings, I cannot honestly see him being our long-term answer at LB..

Just give the geezer a chance. He's only played a few games. Evra and Vidic had shockers when they originally signed for United!

Thats the whole problem - "give them time to adjust to the PL".
Fuck it we've had 6+ years of adjusting. :x

Dick head Wenger shoulda bought experienced PL defenders in a timely fashion instead of panic buying at the last minute. Then there'd be no adjusting to PL just adapting to your new team mates

"Give them time to adjust to the PL"

i thought that aswell months ago when he was available, and was about same price, i think they need time to get into english game but thats not a excuse for positioning, and needs to keep of the KFC

Oh right, same logic that dictated we had to give Chamakh a chance because Henry and Bergkamp needed time to adjust. Sigh...

Far as I can recall Evra and Vidic were not overweight, and far as I can recall their problem was adjusting to the pace of the English game. Not making basic errors an 11 year old schoolboy left-back should not be making (e.g. don't dive in on your man, close down crosses, you can't bomb on when there is no cover etc)...

Santa is fat and he ain;t good enough.

But there's always an excuse 'give him time'. Unlike Vidic and Evra when they arrived this guy is 28 he isn't a bloody child!!!

I just think that Enrique would ahve been the obvious choice but clearly the GIC doesnt like to do obvious. This guy was a bit of a non-entity in his first year at Newcastle I remember but he was young enough to develop and learn the game and look at him now. At 25 one of the best LB in the league.

The irony is by the time Santos settles in he will be 30 and we all know what Wenger does to players aged 30+

It makes no sense to me
