This place is shit

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

This place has been tough going for a couple of years now, and I have to actually give props to the other mods who have stuck at it and given a lot of their time in the process, cos it couldn't have been easy even if they agreed with the overwhelming consensus that AW should go cos IMO the more abuse becomes the norm the less room there is for humour!

I was explaining to my closest pal and dyed in the wool Gooner the other day why I hadn't been on for ages referring to the unmitigated abuse directed toward both AW and each other and right away he uttered those words "those guys aren't real supporters" and I had to tell him that it was a lot harder than he would think to put a case forward convincing someone that they're wrong for calling AW a c**t if they truly believe that he is destroying the thing they love!

On a lighter note tho, I found the OG lookalike and the thread about Twitchy's medical procedure very funny, so all is not lost and with things definitely IMO looking up, on the pitch at least, hopefully we're over the worst of it

Having thought about it, I think we have simply run out of things to talk about. I am bored of reading about Wenger in/out, bored of hearing about the need for a goalkeeper/centre half/Lionel Messi and bored of polls asking is such and such a legend/wanker/on £7 million a week/could do a job for us in midfield.

There is still the occasional funny on here which keeps me coming back but they are totally diluted by inane, uninformed tittle tattle from those who want to be the biggest Arsenal 'fan'!

How on earth can DB10 (who is a Mod btw) ever call himself the biggest Arsenal fan!? :D

Real rubbish.

The best of us tried to keep it going, real hero's.

Well, had a few drinks tonight, still it's getting close to RIP time.

Yes, well we all know the reason for that and it can be expressed in one word.

Are you saying number 5,that you don't find the constant turning of serious threads into jokey homosexual innuendo filled ones, involving the same forum members everytime, very funny??

surely not!!!!

I don't have time to post much on here, but friends use the other sites for AFC and they say basically some a real crap. I think the core posters on here are bloody marvellous compared to other AFC sites.

In regards to when things were this bad under Bertie Mee and GG most of the anger was played out on the famous Highbury steps and North Bank..

I think Number 5 has definitely got a bit more tetchy since Vermaelen signed his new deal and came back into the team.

The general mood on here seems to have got worse since Abou's been out injured. Am I alone in noticing this ?

i log in every day just to have a read but there are days when even i wont post as the threads are just repeats with the same people saying the same things, but forums and posters have a lifespan and while i agree it isnt as fun as it used to be there are somedays when it can be quiet good and some when it is boring , i dont really read other forums but when i do i find them a lot worse then this place with the mods really strict as to what gets posted, i do feel the basement took a lot of the randomness out of the main arsenal chat which didnt help but overall its a good forum.

Well, I've not been here long enough to have experienced the place at its best but I enjoy it on here. I do think there is a bit too much negativity at times but then on the other hand there are some posters who are far too pro-wenger. Debates/ discussions are always best when people can see both sides and can bring things up that makes people with an opposing view think "good point". Too often I think peoples opinions on Wenger/ the board etc are dismissed by "the other side" with very little in the way of good debate about it, a bit too polarised at times. I enjoy getting involved in these threads every so often simply because I have the "advantage" of not being a gooner- I'm not blinded by love for the man or embittered by 6 years without a trophy (I'd cut me cock off for only 6 years without a trophy  )

Maybe its a lack of new posters, or maybe the place now has an image of being a haven for people who hate wenger so more moderate posters dont join, I dont know.

Either way I still think its good, its a good size in that it isnt dead on here but isnt as busy as (for example) sunderlands main forum- you actually feel a bit as if you know the posters on here and the atmosphere is a bit like having a quiet pint with mates. A lot of good natured piss taking, some good discussions about Arsenal/ football in general, its still a decent place to hang out when you're meant to be at work! And things like the charlie x 2 donations show that the place also has a lot of really good people posting on it.

It could maybe do with having a few more off topic posts on the main forum, things to discuss just for a bit of a laugh that arent football related at all, but then threads like that do sometimes appear and to be fair the mods often let them run their course before putting them in the basement, so the moderating on here cant really be criticised. Plus it has the Bendtner thread, which is the premier thread in the whole world for gooners to keep track of the progress of their young striker, what more can you ask for

The forum has gone stale. I don't post here much but have enjoyed getting things off my chest from time to time. The best threads are made from anger or humour but Arsenal remain in limbo. Their ability to generate anger or humour is reduced because our club is stale. That is reflected here which is why we get repetitive threads and monotonous humour.

Arsenal get good again and start winning stuff, and you watch this forum come back to life!
Watching arsenal in its ground hog day depressing style is bad enough let alone reading about everyday!

Well, since I've only been here since...wait...just have to take a look... Jan 2011 ( :coffeespit: ), I can with confidence say that the first album was excellent, and it has been a difficult act to follow.

Just hope this band can rediscover their best form.
