This place is shit

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

There was a thread on here a couple of days ago lamenting IU4GN and questioning why he's not on here as much and for me, the answer was simple; this place is easily not as good as it once was. Stearmaster. Smoothie. 2007 was definitely the golden era of the forum.
Fuck sake Tony, lumped in with Smoothie & Stearmaster? :( I've heard of a devil's threesome but fucking hell! I mean, have you seen Smoothie's bed sheets? Cos I have!

Yeah this place is a bit shit, but then people have been saying that since about 2008 and 99% of them/us are still here. Too many people who seem to take themselves a bit too seriously, which is pretty much the opposite of how this place was, plus everything the likes of Percy, g88ner etc have already mentioned. But there you go.

If your a positive poster the plethora of negative posts is pretty annoying. Some threads turn onto conversations which there is nothing wrong with however if you are not part of the group chatting it can seem rather like a clique. The dropping of the herd and. Com forums would have created an influx of noobies who may approach the forumness differently. Let's face it once RvP gets injured were back to square one and we'll all be depressed posters. Or the longer you spend on here the more you realise you are all a bunch of cnuts and get bored.. :)
Frankbutcher was right then?!!    8)

Is this lack of love for the forum down to the enjoyment slowly going out of football? Too expensive etc??

I imagine most forum members are confused now that Arsenal are doing well.

about a month ago there seemed to be a general consensus that Wenger was past his sell by date and there was some stupid talk of banners being unfurled etc. what a load of rubbish.

Wenger has been and still is the best manager for this club.
The buzz seems to be back now amongst the players and for the first time in a while there is genuine competition for places.

cheap ticket prices around too. ok I'm off to get my £10 Man City ticket
:D :D

there might be a slight link I suppose- football being so expensive to follow now and being watched by a load of pricks in many cases tends to leave people thinking "fuck it" a bit. If Arsenal were challenging for the title it'd be vibrant, but battling to get top 4 I think bores the shit out of people, however much Sky try to hype up the excitement of getting into the CL yet again.

If there wasnt a basement (or there was but only for the really dodgy threads!) then when the football becomes a bit dull, people would just post about non football stuff more, and when it gets interesting again you'd see more and more Arsenal threads. As it is though there isnt much to discuss football wise that hasnt already been discussed in great detail. You can debate individual players/ manager/ how high up you're likely to finish this season but once you've debated all these once, a lot of posters will get bored of repeat discussions/ arguments going round in circles and will do something else.

I understand the owners of the site hoping for this place to give rise to some things to discuss in the magazine but even keeping it all Arsenal related, there cant be much of any use at the minute in that regard, its the same old debates over and over again.

Still, I enjoy the place, even if i do wish the basement was a bit busier
