As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

It depends what your measurement is. Of course we are not winning CL every year. Only Bayern Munich and of course Borussia Dortmund have managed to win these title. Borussia went almost bankrupt afterwards, also due to other reasons. I think Germany is now number 3 in the ranking http://www.sportskeeping.com/football-rankings-2012/ but in the club list it looks a little bit different (Arsenal on 6th, Borussia on 86) http://eurorivals.net/club-rankings.html
Also I think a lot has to do with the different style of money spending. To be fair most of the Bundesliga Clubs are well financed and we still have officially the rule that no Russian guy or a sheikh or an American idiot with lots of money can by a football club and pay ridicules prices. I hope it will stay this way and that we are not going to ruin the game of football like other countries did. I don’t know if you are aware but for example in Dortmund we have a fan movement that we are not going to pay more than 20 Euros for a standing ticket, in generally we would like to see ticket prices being cut down so that a normal guy or a family can afford to watch a game and have a drink or two.
Also when It comes to salary and transfer fees. I think in Germany besides Bayern Munich no club is able and also not willing to spend big money on a player. It is really frustrating to see how the ‘big’ clubs from Spain, England and Italy (but maybe since Berlusconi is gone it will change) are targeting players with big pocket money, how do clubs generate these money? The answer is they don't....

Hey,
I saw on the official Arsenal web side a video about Wenger on Henry. http://www.arsenal.com/membership
Is Henry back into the squad? Is he an option for the pitch?

BYW,
Thomas
No Thomas, he is only here for fitness training reasons, he still belongs to america's Major League Soccer. Wenger was asked if he was considering bringing Thierry in the january transfer window, but he denied it, claiming he hadn't considered it.
btw mate, could you share with us how was the joy of winning the league last season? did you expect it? and do you think Dortmund can keep this good team for a while or will you probably sell your best players and get back to mid table (which is what we do here at The Arsenal )?
Thanks for your insights mate, some very good posts in this thread.
Hi brazilianGOONER, thanks for clarifying on Henry.
Well, what can I say...the entire city was black and yellow and it was an amazing party. Borussia played an exceptional well season last year, maybe you watch this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwU37kfD ... r_embedded
I saw them 95 winning the German title after a long time...unbelievable. Then we won 96 and 2002 the German title again and then we went almost bankrupt 2005. I remember a Monday...I took off from work and went to the Dusseldorf Airport. Borussia at that time was at the stock market (and as the only club in Germany still is) and the faith of the club was in the hand of the investors...not a good feeling at all. Then came the dry years...but somehow with the supporters and the squad being rebuilt and finally with the new coach Juergen Klopp and manager Michael Zorc Borussia gained his old strength. Then last season everything came together. The talent of the young players, the spirit of the club, the supporters and and and...We’ve beaten Bayern two times...we played exceptional well football.
This season it was different because as a champion you are being hunted by the other teams and that was difficult in the beginning I think. But now the team is back on track. Not sure if we can win it again this year, does not matter really. I think we are trying to play international again; also Germany now has 4 CL spots. But overall I think the squad is trying in every game to give their best and we as supporters also and if everything comes together Borussia is very hard to beat .
I wish everybody a good and solid weekend. I'll get drunk now and tomorrow during the game even more .

Welcome to the forum mate. Sadly, you will find out that watching football in England is very different to Germany. Don't worry about singing or chanting in the home sections, for every loudmouth who say's he'll give you a slap, there will be 10,000 others who really won't care, and to be honest probably won't even notice Sing, shout & swear all you like, you'll be fine. Plus, i'd rather hear you guys singing than the total silence from our tourist fans.
Great choreo against Wolfsburg by the way. I'll be at the game against Kaiserslautern, can we expect more of the same?
hey! thanks for welcoming me..yeah i hope its cool and nobody is stressed by me supporting my team. at the end of the day i hope we all see a good game and have great time in the stadium. i suppose the atmosphere will be awesome! i planned to go against kaiserslautern. unfortunately i missed to buy the tickets soon enough so its sold out. well, at least the good seats are sold out. next time! right now i'm really looking forward to see the game against munich. will meet up with a few friends and watch it on sky. forza bvb!

Cheers and black + yellow wishes,

cheers tomas! the video you linked to is great, you guys did score some stunners last season! your support is absolutely top class too
i have a lot of time for traditional clubs who work their way through with determination and hardwork and manage to build great sides like you guys did last season.
just like that old gentleman who used to walk around the pitch in highbury a few decades back holding this little sign, we welcome you guys to The Arsenal and may the best team win!

the tickets in north 62 and 71 are ok...also I would look for northeast 56...and also I would check random if tickets are coming in..also I would go at match day to the stadium to see if tickets are being sold from somebody who can not attend....
Just had a quick "butcher's" at SchwarzGelb Forum. I cannot actually believe the arrogance of the fucking German schweinhunds!
Fair enough they've got hold of thousands of tickets in home areas. Now they are slagging the Club off for asking them not to wear away colours in the home end, and threatening to flaunt it. Well you fucking do that, and you'll be turned away at the gate you fuckers!!
Why don't I come round your house, fuck your wife, and then you can make me a cup of tea afterwards.
The German arrogance is something that will never cease. They think that they are a cut above the rest of us. Well, we'll see about that on Wednesday.
