As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I really like the concept of the club promoting the 'singing blocks' more I agree that they have really only offered lip-service to the idea previously. We can definitely take that forward to them next week.
The whole block 5/6 atmosphere thing has definitely faded mainly since the middle of last season. I think its pretty obvious that its all linked to the general disappointment with events. Maybe the recent mild upswing has helped and the atmosphere could pick up accordingly.
Dortmund showed us what can be achieved do you think Arsenal supporters would suffer a 'conductor' or even a drummer (we have had problems before with people saying I want a drummer just not next to me). Even with the giant flags pre-match we get people moaning because they can't see the warm up as the flag passes over them!
We all know there is a long way to go but I know that the chaps in RA will continue to fight for the right causes and ideas. I know personally that I am not in it for any ego trip and would welcome more help from enthusiastic Gooners such as the posters who have made so many valid suggestions on here. RA are there already they are fighting on virtually all the points made so why not get more involved rather than trying to create yet another fans group, we need to unite and show a common front to the club.
I don't get on here as much as maybe I should but if you have any direct questions feel free to get in touch and I am sure either me or one of the other RA chaps will come back to you as soon as we can.

Have always liked the conductor (some fan on a megaphone starting the chants) idea and am not ashamed to admit it - firstly it is a strategy that has worked in clubs in italy who pride themselves on their hostile and noisy home support and who clearly dont feel it is lame and secondly I feel beggars cant be choosers and lets face it our atmosphere is fairly shit so we should be at least willing to try it out If we are happy to look at other clubs and envy their atmosphere why do we resist copying some of the stuff that they do ? It is all well and good wanting to be original but football is largely a copycat culture and we shouldnt be too proud or ashamed to pick up what works elsewhere and try them out for ourselves
At the end of the day I think we all know that the single biggest obstacle to improving atmosphere's is the goverments and football authorities refusal to allow the introduction of safe standing area's despite it's success in places like germany I find it far easier to become involved when standing up and find that it is too easy to go into a mini slumber like state when sitting constantly and believe me that is not the way I want to go
Alanalan, am I right in picking up an air of resignation in your post ? You say that these are all points that ye continue to bring up with the club and receive no encouragement so I am wondering if your group has now resigned themselves to the belief that the club are not going to budge on any of these idea's ? Personally I believe all the discussion groups in the world wont change or move them and I have always felt that it would take a much more public show of hostility from the fans to bring the spotlight and pressure on the club over any and all issue's

C'mon boys.
Big problem that. All thats heard over there is "We're by far the greatest team"........which is very fucking boring after you've heard it sung untold times time during one game.
Augie I'm not sure if resignation is the correct term but maybe feeling a little jaded due to a lack of rsponse from the club in recent months. This has been caused by many factors but generally I believe revolves around the negativity surrounding recent events on the pitch from all corners.
I hope that next weeks meeting with us and BSM etc will get us back on course.
Long ago I realised that whatever we want will take a long time but we have had successes in the past and no doubt will do so in the future, and I do believe that the people we deal with regularly know whats going on and do want to support us you and everyone else in trying to get the atmosphere going. However there are some parts of the club that just do not get it and they take longer to convince.
I know there is some good stuff coming for the 125 game, none of it exactly rocket science in terms of getting people motivated but hopefully it will be a step forward that we will be able to capitalise on in the future.
As for a conductor I do wonder if Arsenal supporters can park that 'to cool for school attitude' that we tend to have at times and accept someone who would be willing to take the job on. Of course that is a problem in itslef in that we have asked some of the more likely candidates all of whom have rejected the offer! If its something that the consensus says go for we will try again.

It's becoming our anthem. Okay it's no YNWA but it's ours so I'm not ashamed to keep singing it but I do agree with your point there need to more variety.
That said I'm loving this new tradition of "We love you Arsenal" around 5 mins towards the end non-stop.
Boomer wrote:I don't know how this can be done (maybe speak with Reg/BSM) but get this new group set-up like a supporters club.
I don't quite know how they operate but by starting to get 'like minded fans' applying for tickets.
Hopefully ask the club to allocate the same area each game and with a view to expanding including season ticket allocation into this area.
Rather then let the club sort the seating of this area get the club to point fans into the Groups direction.
This should be something that's addressed as a top priority. Sadly I don't see it happening as it would require Arsenal giving up an element of control. In Europe, the club give tickets for a certain area to the supporters group who then sell them on to the most vocal supporters, so they're getting exactly the kinda people they want in their section.
Getting a supporters group set up should be one of the first, most important issues we address. Strength in numbers. Like minded fans who'll work together & stand together. Sadly, organisation is not a strength of the English mentality.
Yes but we have one already called REDsection in block5/6
Its just not being used to its full potential and has been left to rot
Correct that first and we have 2 blocks of like minded people all putting in more effort. The club can help address this and move on to other areas after that.
This is what annoys we have a ready made supporter group , 2 blocks of fans that stand and (at times can make noise) when they feel like it.
Sorting this will cause a reaction within the ground guaranteed.
I think Mikey is right here. These 2 blocks need to be sorted out first. On Wednesday for example, songs were getting started, sung one chorus and thats it. What's the point? By the time its sung once the other end of the ground just about pick up what were singing but then everyone has stopped so it just drowns out.
Also, there are too many people in 5/6 that just want to be there so they can say to their mates 'yeah I'm in the lively section' but do nothing to help it be 'lively'.
Small point but needs to be said is that Block 5/6 is one block.
2 blocks in that there are 2 entrances and go as far as block 7 to the left and 4 to the right.

worthing gooner wrote:The club won't allow groups of "lads" being near the away lot
Just for extra policing costs. Shame. Keep at this boys.
The FIRST thing the club should do is to remove the away support from its current position and put them all in the upper tier. Seemed to work for the Dortmund lot the other night, why not for all games?
the club can then open up the entire clock end for general seating.
there should also be an encouragement to bring flags, banners in etc, recruit a clock end drummer, get a DJ in there, whatever it takes.
we need to remember our history. Arsenal usually are the FIRST club to do things. Where we lead others can follow.
You prick, the away fans can all piss on your head then??

Why dont one of you REDaction leaders (if thats the right term) take over the megaphone? if/when it works and things improve you'll have a queue of people wanting to do the job
