Hleb I agree entirely with your second paragraph, but as for the first one I would say out home atmosphere is yes very poor but better than -- Fulham, Chelsea, Bolton, Blackburn and Wigan at least!

I Hate Hleb wrote:That's hardly saying much though is it SWL? Today I think the home support reached it's final nadir. Even the likes of Blackburn, Fulham and Wigan make more noise at their half-filled grounds than we do nowadays.

I think that if at their meeting with Arsenal officials this Wednesday RedAction and BSM don't get any proper acknowledgment from the club that this is a major problem that they themselves could easily help remedy, then we might be at the point where these groups need to boycott future meetings and step up their own actions independently of the club and their 'consent'.

We have been at that point for a long long time hlebby but it has taken this long for some people to realise it  I wish to fcuk our fans would man up and realise that our game is a game of passion and if we the fans are to change anything at the club then we are gonna have to force the issue's with real passion of our own as opposed to meeting for afternoon tea and biscuits with the club every so often and having a nice amicable chat   Why do we feel that we can only achieve things if we are bedfellows with the club representatives when history shows us that when you consider how long the dialogue has been going on the "achievements" have been fcuk all ? To a man we all agree that the club and football is all about money nowadays so why not target the area that matters to the club......it's public profile. No club likes bad publicity or having the media spotlight on them especially when it comes near the time of negotiating new sponsorship deals with potential business partners - can you imagine the fear inside the club of what a public revolt would do to their asking price ? I know we all want the highest sponsorship deals possible for the club but at the same time it is way down my list of priorities and I wouldnt lose a seconds sleep if a protest hit the club in the pocket in this way or any other way cos I support a football club not a business or franchise

Have to be realistic and accept that aint going to happen and I am not sure that it should tbh. The more passionate fans that stay away and/or give up their season tickets the higher the percentage of day trippers/tourists make up the attendance and that is not good :( I still believe that the players should take a fair portion of the blame for some of the things that are wrong within our club but for me I feel that the fans should initiate a spell of harassment for the manager and those on the board before every home game, during every home and at the end of every home game cos a public show of dissention is the only thing that might wake these *word censored* up

Is it the fault of day trippers? Carling cup games often have a better atmosphere than league games and they have a higher attendance of day trippers? I think a big problem is complacency off the pitch as well as on it.
At Highbury in the North Bank Upper where I sat, there was a reasonable amount of singing, not great but not awful. At the Emirates in the lower west they only sing when everyone else gets going.

You can stick your fucking statures up your arse,
You can stick your fucking statures up your arse,
You can stick your fucking statures,
Stick your fucking statures,
Stick your fucking statures up your arse.

Singing we want a proper at-mos-phere,
Coz the prices that we pay are very dear,
Heard more noise at a funeral,
And from the Highbury Mural,
But the answer to the problem's very clear..

You can start by giving us our Clock End back,
Then make sure some shitty stewards get the sack!
Put the fans that don't like standing,
Onto a different landing,
And then we'll get the noise that we now lack.

Sad times indeed as prices push people away there is a decay at our club that will get a lot worse.

Indeed, the club don't actually want supporters who will stand, sing and shout for 90 mins.

They prefer someone who will "enjoy the match experience" by staying seated, eating crap food at high prices and buying tat from the club shop - these class of match goers would be put off by rowdy singing and jumping around.

stewards

Not sure if this has already been mentioned, but the atmosphere against Fulham on Saturday in the North Upper was utter shite.

I sit next to a small group of fans at the back/side in the North Upper who made all the noise and started most of the songs. Although virtually nobody joined in.

The stewards then came up during half time and took their seat numbers because they were standing during the first half.

So one of the few groups of people trying to get behind the team and get the atmosphere going were basically harrassesed by the club for doing it.

Then 5-10 minutes before the end, huge chunks of the North Upper started to fuck off, JUST WHEN THE TEAM NEEDED PEOPLE TO GET BEHIND THEM! With fans like that, no wonder players like Cesc & Nasri fucked off away from the club and moaned about them.

If we believed the media entirely, we'd be lead to believe this is endemic to the Arsenal. Although I sincerely doubt it's exclusive to us, I DO believe it has a strong enough effect to affect the performance on the pitch.

I hope, following the last few comments, that people will be inclined to join in and help us with this. We can't now sit back and hope others will do all the work for us.

Anyone see the tv footage of the Fulham game with the teenager sleeping, think he was seated in the directors box? Just about sums them up

I actually resent those comments that imply people who don't make enough noise (in their opinion) are not true fans and are at the match as some sort of novelty. I've seen a post in the Arsenal talk section of a similar type and the author was bashed for it.

Myself, I sit in the blue quadrant lower tier. I am a quiet person, I will sing if other people sing, but I would never be the type of person to start the chants (most of which is alcohol fuelled). That's just me and, in my opinion, it doesn't make me any less of a fan. I love Arsenal, I've been to nearly every home game for the last 20 years (plus the odd away game), I have neither left a game early nor booed my team, I am ecstatic when we win and shattered when we lose. To sum it all up, Arsenal are in my emotions and, to me, that is what being a fan is all about. It's not down to where you sit in the ground and how many decibels you reach when you sing.
This is that type of supporter that needs convincing. He is willing to sing, but doesn't want/afraid to sing on their own or probably doesn't even know the chants.

There should be a list of people willing to sing and another of people willing to start the chants, and a map on where they sit on the stadium.

With that information, we would be able to see main singing clusters, but importantly it would make it easier to coordinate whatever chants.
I'm sure that information would be useful for something.

I am willing to sing up and start chants, but never seem to have anyone join in in Club Level block 56! Wonder why? :/

This sums up our support, I'm afraid.
