Surely if the club has decided to do this then the time to unveil these statues is at the start of a season at a time of optimism and where the focus is totally on them ? I know that I am a miserable cynical old bastard but so far this season we have christened two bridges after ex board members and now we are unveiling 3 statues and I cant help the feeling that the club is doing everything to distract attention from our problems
+1

Naming a bridge after Ken Friar was a travesty too.

But this is our 125th year, we should be celebrating that oh so special, magical 125th year  bridges, statues, smoke and mirrors, we have never had it so good.

Apparently its our first signing of the up coming transfer window. We've bought the Michael Jackson statue from Fulham. Apparently it has 'super quality' and saved us from 'dizzying' prices of top European statues.

I think one of the other statues was unveiled yesterday. I certainly thought I spotted one wearing number 23

Expect them to be unveiled at the Everton game, big announcement on Saturday saying that they will be doing something special then to mark the 125 and to try and get to the stadium early.

Statues to be unveiled on the Friday before the Everton game as a bit of a build up to the 125 celebrations on the Saturday.

Invitations have already gone out to some people to attend.

Herbert Chapman, Tony Adams, and Thierry Henry sliding on his knees after scoring against the middlesex marsh people.

Special guest to do unveiling might just be the aforementioned Frenchman as he is here already.

Been thinking about this whole legends statue thing and it could be a recipe for trouble - how many former AFC people might think they are deserving and might be pissed off by their exclusion ? Personally I am disgusted that they would have a statue of chapman when they already have a bust of him but I am sure many would disagree.

It's funny that some people can smear their reputation whilst at the club but with no long term damage done whilst others are treated like lepers and will never be embraced by the club again - I loved TA6 the footballer and absolutely believe that he has earned the legendary status and the statue but in latter years he did drag the club through the mud somewhat. On the other side GG served the club immensely both as a player and manager (especially as a manager) and absolutely deserves to have a statue at the club honouring his achievements and contributions but of course never will have one

I used to love GG for what he did for the club but there are many that would think differently after he went to manage to sp*rs, i for one still struggle to forgive and forget that plus you have to remember he was sacked for effectivly stealing from the club (and i know many where doing it at the time) After these things i think he is hardly statue material.

Personally im delighted with the 3 choices :barscarf: and im over the moon they didnt do a Wenger one, which i expected them to do

As I said already I honestly believe that TA6 was THE standout candidate for a statue imo but tbh I have never really forgiven him for failing to show for Bergkamp's testimonial or for the final game at highbury :( I found it to show a total lack of respect and class from a man that should know better

A fucking joke this is, unbelievable. But then what could you expect from that fucking c**t Hill-Wood? For seven years we've been the joke of the premier league and what do we do about it? Award Mr Wenger the fucking c**t with a statue! I wonder if it's to celebrate the 8-2 against United? Or maybe for giving contracts to the likes of Arteta and Gervinho, those fucking useless footballers who can't pass the ball 5 yards ahead.

As long as there are stupid ignorant fans like glory-hunter-favela-living brazilianGOONER we're fucked and we'll be relegated this season, if I'm wrong you can all fuck me in the ass. If we don't, you can do it too, just to prove how right I am.

Next thing we're doing is giving that fucking piece of shit koscielny a new contract, he's hardly a tony adams is he? i mean, i bet he can't have half as many pints, and I'm sure he'll never be as good as Maldini and Baresi either, so why the fucking GIC insists on playing that fucking piece of motherfucking shit??

No, but let's build a statue just because he helped a bit with the construction of the fucking soulless bowl, the worst atmosphere in the world, you fucking prick
Spot on. Manure didn't give Ferguscum an honour until recently and that's after a load of league titles, two European cups and a bunch of other trophies. We'll give Wenger one- probably sponsored by Netto- for his services to saving money.
oh lord, you didn't... oh yes you did... :duh: :duh: :duh: :groaner: :groaner:    :banghead: :banghead:
