Nigerboy is a boy from Nigeria
hadn't been on for a while - as I stated
and won't be
but won't let accusations of racism stand
in my circle of friends Nigerboy is simply a boy from Nigeria
the connection to the other 'N' word hadn't crossed my mind
Baborietiya is a reference to Yoruba phrase orietiya - it means "silly fool"
the boy, silly fool + virgin bits were obviously specifically meant to be insulting
he got on my nerves with his personal insults
there was no conscious attempt to be racist
he is an idiot, this is not related to or because of his race

I haven't backtracked, for one second, on anything
I think the hypersensitivity about rude words in modern culture obstructs what real racism is
Terry talking shite is far less important than the scandalously low number of black ex-pros who make it as managers
a poor ignorant woman talking shite on a tram is far less important than the fact no policeman has ever been convicted for a black death in custody
I have no issue with baba thinking I'm a *word censored*
I would be surprised if he genuinely thinks I'm a racist
it seems to be others on here getting overexcited about that
'racism' is a fluid concept
racial stereo types are based on socio-economic realities
why are germans seen as efficient and mexicans as crafty lazy - as a function of how their national economies operate.
Do I believe that the English are all arrogant know it all's, that the Greek are all feckless and lazy, that the Irish all drink too much ? of course not
but these myths and generalisations are rooted in reality
the negative racial sterotypes of Nigerians is not that they are stupid (which is what I insulted Baba with) but that they are crafty confidence tricksters. Again a function of many millions of people operating in an inefficient economy. One where the nations vast natural resource wealth is 'semi-privatised' and divvied up between the powerful. Economies where the realistic interactive units are familial and tribal before way ahead of the national (Italy and Greece are similar to Nigeria in this sense) always breed 'corruption' - or simple logical mutual prioritisation of those from your group.
obviously the fact that I didn't even consider the option somebody would read that phrase as the other N word with an extra G was naive
it just didn't cross my mind

Are we being asked to condone racism now?Henry Norris 1913 wrote:I believe JD. I think everyone should settle down. Its strange this comment has been under such scrutiny when Babs has gotten away with petulantly insulting almost every poster on this forum daily and using extravagant put downs to anyone who disagrees with him

Stereotypes are not based on socio-economic realities. They are convenient categorisations which can place millions of people from specific nationalities within a narrow set of personality traits. Sterotypes help to prejudge a person based on irrelevant criteria. They are ignorant prejudice at work.
