Abou Diaby

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Abou Diaby

Post by TeeCee »

I know we have a lot of banter on here about Abou, but in all seriousness, why the fuck is he still at Arsenal? Injured yet again after a long layoff, he supposedly earns somewhere between 50-60k a week.
Why pay around 3m a year for someone who never plays, and when they do they are generally shit? It's these kind of situations that make Wenger's management even more questionable.

121 full games in 7 SEASONS, that's over 40 full appearances less than Van Persie in the same time!!!

Sorry if his latest injury has already been brought up elsewhere, I couldn't see a post on it.

He is only at the club because he is always injured.Eboue is gone and Denilson and Bendtner will never play for us again.Diaby is out of the same box as them. But who is going to buy a player who cant play 3 games in a row.So we are stuck with the useless pile of shite

Sometimes with regard to players like this I think Wenger is like a bad gambler, cannot walk away when on a bad streak and thinks the next one will come in. He doesn't seem to have the ruthless streak- like Ferguson he wants to win at all costs, he doesn't care who he crosses or wrongs.

He's Wenger's pet. I don't even see where he fits in, we've got Jack, Rambo, Song, Arteta, Frimpong and Coquelin as midfield options, and they're all far better than him. Wenger is fostering him.

It is now December and after a pathetic 22 minutes of football in the entire season so far, the bean headed *word censored* is injured again.

What a fucking joke, and a frighteningly expensive one at that. The fact he was given an improved contract extension a couple of years back was absolute treason on the club by both the manager and "medical staff" if they can even be called that. 60 grand a week to do fuck all, what a life!! :banghead:

He fits in as cover/competition for Ramsey as the furthest forward of our midfield 3. The rest you mentioned are all best suited to a deeper role, although Jack definitely has the attirbutes and ability to play further forward.

Having said that, we should definitely cut our losses on him but as has been pointed out, wages make that a rather hard thing to do.

Devils advocate - Who wanted to give up on RVP when he had similar issues?

You honestly believe wenger see's him as no more than cover ? I would say that when everybody is fit ( :coffeespit: ) wenger will rate him as the 4th best midfielder in the squad ahead of ramsey, coquelin, pingpong and I actually wouldnt rule it out that wenger would rate him ahead of arteta   Is there any other example needed of how highly wenger rates him than bringing him on last sat v fulham ahead of every other midfielder despite not having played as much as a minute to that point in the season ?

People are quick to forget he had his leg snapped when only 19, struggled to really get any run of games since then, recurring injuries are killing his career. I love him as a player when fully fit, just wish he could get there

And we turned down offers to buy the usless twat in the summer allegedly :banghead: the player at Arsenal I hate the most. Doesn't deserve to be at the club or wear the colours, sooner we get rid of him the better.

Top man Wozza. Suffered a nasty injury when he'd started to really blossom as an attacking midfielder. The recurring injuries since then have hampered his progress, as did the GIC sticking him out wide on the left for a year and a half.

Quite amusing to see everyone asking why he was given an improved contract and is still here despite interest in the Summer, and why he hasn't been farmed out on loan like Bendy or Denilshit. Maybe its because he's a decent player eh? Other than RvP, the most naturally gifted player in the side.

And Augie, forgive me mate, but didn't his introduction against Fulham ahead of other players on the bench, trigger the fight back in the last 20 minutes?

We should all be hoping that he regains full fitness for the second half of the season.
