We might all agree that he is being over sensitive about being called BFG but he is a guy that wants to play for The Arsenal and has supported us for years so we should respect him enough not to sing stuff like that if he takes offence.

Apparently so - in the thread about why chesney started the chant on sat it suggested that mertesacker wasnt happy about it and chesney indicated it to the fans and as a result started up the "by far the greatest team" song to deflect away from the bfg chant

Ah yeah I just read that thread - I'm not sure I believe it to be honest. We sang the BFG song to Mert at Norwich away at the end of the game and he seemed absolutely fine, and also at the bridge when he gave Theo a piggyback around the penalty area!

I'd be very surprised if he found it offensive.

I don't know why anyone would find it offensive. He's massive, he's German, two things that aren't generally considered bad...

If I was 6'6 I would be fine with the song "Big Fucking Canuck"
