Wow exclusive as of 28th Novemberalanalansunderland wrote:Statues to be unveiled on the Friday before the Everton game as a bit of a build up to the 125 celebrations on the Saturday.
Invitations have already gone out to some people to attend.
Herbert Chapman, Tony Adams, and Thierry Henry sliding on his knees after scoring against the middlesex marsh people.
Special guest to do unveiling might just be the aforementioned Frenchman as he is here already.

Agree with the choice of Chapman 100%. But why no Norris....?
And agree with Adams.
But in terms of loyalty to the club then Henry comes a little early for my liking - especially as he did leave us and is still playing. What about David O'Leary? What about George Graham (as player and manager)? What about Charlie George and Liam Brady...(albeit that they both left us as well - but both came back)?

Am I the only one who isn't over-impressed with the choices?
Chapman - Now obviously this man is right up there in the Arsenal legends ranking but he does already have a bust which is famous throughout football.
Adams and Henry - Again legends but I do think it is wrong to have two players from the same era. Ok, TA probably spanned era's but he is still heavily associated with 'The Wenger Years' and as Henry is still playing the game I find it weird that we have/need a statue of him already!
Surely these tributes should span the generations and to not recognise Norris or anyone from the 71 Double side to me is odd and slightly sad.
Also, wouldn't it have been fitting to have something permanent to remember Rocky by?

I think with there being only three statues there's gonna be a lot of people who are upset to be left out or not happy with the choices. I agree that we should have something for Rocky, the club seems to have glossed over this opportunity on a number of occasions; renaming a stand or one of the bridges for example. I'd like to have seen McLintock get a statue too...Percy Dalton wrote:Am I the only one who isn't over-impressed with the choices?

I dunno, maybe McLintock isn't "marketable" to modern Arsenal fans. Wasn't there rumours he had a falling out with the club too?
