Erm, possibly a ridiculous thought, given that we are Top of the league (it start's at 4th place I believe).....
100% a Chelsea win. Then we win at Eastlands on Sunday & are 6 points off the top?
Clutching at straws? Probably, but my own view is that if we don't win the league, I'd prefer to come outside of the european places than 2nd, 3rd or 4th, to put the squeeze on our 'current regime'

people that put ending city's unbeaten run above us finishing fourth ahead of chelsea just make no sense to me
. we need to forget that era and concentrate on the club now, if we are to have any chance of finishing fourth we need city to beat chelsea. I can't understand any other opinion. fuck their so called unbeaten run, they have us at home, united at home, stoke away, newcastle away, everton away, norwich away blah balh blah.
even if they did do it the achievment will never be remembered alongside the 04 team that was built, not bought. chelsea winning opens up the title race again and gives the scum the idea they're still in it. It's a double negative situation for us. If chelsea lose we are fourth above both the mickeys and chelski with the same games played. If City are going to get their unbeaten run smashed it needs to be us.
Come on City tonight I say

If City did go unbeaten this season, it would never be lived down, the press would rub it in and say how superior to the AFC Invincibles they are. The unbeaten thing is our thing, no other team can say they've done that in the modern era and to the magnitude we did, if anyone is to do it again and beat the old record it has to be us.

I think that it's tragic that Arsenal supporters would happily drop 12 points off the top in order to improve our chances of finishing 4th - in the 2nd week of December.
Mr Norris, listen to yourself, go back 7-8 years & tell me how ridiculous this would have sounded then.

SouthcoastArsenal you really are making yourself look stupider by the minute
the main part of your argument appears to be that if Chelsea win tonight we then have a chance of still winning the title??
I mean come on I am the optimistic one on here and even I wouldn't go that far.
then the other part of your argument appears to be that you want Wenger out if he doesn't win the league? I don't think you have really thought this through....

Agreed. Plus, if Chelsea win tonight, it's hardly 'job done' as far as fourth spot goes, is it?Sutch wrote:If City did go unbeaten this season, it would never be lived down, the press would rub it in and say how superior to the AFC Invincibles they are. Anyway, Spuds are probably a more likely rival for that fourth spot IMO.

My argument is not that I think we will win the league, but the fact that we have a better chance of doing so if the team at the top loses & we can take points from them.
I don't want Wenger out if we dont win the league, I wan't him out now, I wanted him gone 3 years ago & my views will not change even should we win the league.
The fact that so many people on here view 4th place as the fucking mecca makes me ashamed to be Arsenal.
I would give up Champions League football for the next 3 seasons if it meant Wenger would go now

i get your points SCA, but i don't think any policy at all would make us go in front of city right now - they finally have a good manager and a top top top squad only rivaled by those of barcelona and real madrid.SouthCoastArsenal wrote:people that put ending city's unbeaten run above us finishing fourth ahead of chelsea just make no sense to me . we need to forget that era and concentrate on the club now, if we are to have any chance of finishing fourth we need city to beat chelsea

honestly, i don't think we can do better than them, unless we also throw stupid money around. since we're not doing it (and i'm happy that way), i think the best we can get is as close as possible to city, if possible qualifying for the CL without the need of the pre-match like we did against udinese.
keep on building, improving the team, and spend some of that money we have on the bank in the next summer, and maybe we can have a real go next season.

I am sure they too would want Wenger to be sacked if Arsenal won the league this season. No doubt you must have celebrated their NLD win this season.

How many times have Arsenal fans been saying this in the last 6 years?
Contracts for shit like Diaby, Flamini, Mannone, Squilaci et al is throwing stupid money around. Not paying the top players when we can afford to is what we do. Throw away the chance to sign Alonso & lose Diarra to 'not impede the progress' of Denilson is what we do. Lose Flamini & Nasri because our wage bill includes people like RoSICKy on 70+ grand a week is what we do.
And dare I say it, an extra 5k a week to keep Ashely Cole? As much as I hate him, is there a person alive that agrees that was good business? Not only did we weaken ourselves dramatically, but we strengthened a rival massively.
