As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Always thought he wanted to come back to London and in fact used Spurs as they were available...I forgave him years ago..Him and Howard Kendall were the ones to stop Liverpool's dominance . not whiskey nose...
GG was and always is a legend in my books yes he shouldn't have been involved in the bribes but I don't think he has ever had a bad word to say about the club, don't mind that he managed the scum either, he never pretended to like them or fall to O'Leary levels.
Think the club could do with recognising the impact he had in returning us to the very top of Football, Wenger does indeed owe him a lot of thanks, seeing him at the last game of Highbury and the 125th anniversary was great, would love to see him at more games.
I was drunk for a solid week in 89. Rang my old man, got an advance on wages and went on the piss with a couple Gooner mates. One of the greatest times of my life.
I never saw him take public joy in Arsenal losing the way O'Leary did either.
Did you go drinking with your gendarme mates from Paris then DB ???

are you serious? he didn't touch that ball?
i found it weird when i heard someone mention eddie kelly scored a goal in that final, now it makes sense
but seriously, i watched that match a dozen times and i always thought GG pushed it towards goal
That's what it looked like until you view the replay from behind the sticks. Can't find it anywhere now but I remember at the time a mini-controversy about the way Stroller had "nicked" Eddie's goal. Ultimately no one really cared thanks to Charlie but quite a funny harbinger of later events...
