Technical help please!
Got myself one of these new iPhone 4 thingy’s (okay – I’m sound with the phone etc…;) ) but I’m having problems with iTunes.
Never used iTunes before as I never owed an Apple product previously. When I installed iTunes it automatically imported my tracks from 'My Computer' and synced to my phone no probs! However, not all my music is on my laptop so started to imported some CD’s. All original’s.
Problem I’m having is that iTunes is not recognising all the CD’s.
When I insert a CD the laptop whirls up and its there on my desktop but iTunes nothing! it’s very hit and miss and some have worked fine with Genius kicking in and providing all the CD data. But this is less frequent then when it doesn’t work. This isn't the first time either as I had the same problem using (different CD's) last night too.
I’ve searched some forum’s for help and found a few things but wondered if anyone else had the same problem or any advice?
Any help greatly appreciated!

you could always turn the CD into mp3 files via any of the thousands of free converters out there, with the advantage that you can rip the MP3 with the quality you wish to. then you just move to the itunes.
it's what i do. that way you also backup your songs, so that if the cd gets scratches or you lose it you can still listen to the songs...

Managed to sort it last night.
I changed the import format from AAC encoding to MP3 encoding and had it set on the default "high" setting.
Worked first time on CD that previously didn't work and then again on a 2nd CD.
I wasn't happy with the speed as it was a little slow importing so downgraded the quality to "good" but then encountered the same problem again.
So I then did a quick test so to see whether it was the CD but WMP worked fine showing all the CD info including album cover art.
Changed iTunes back to the higher (& slower) setting and it again works!
Itunes is crap!
My mate who's a bit of a techy and also works for Apple is sure I've got a codec problem and iTunes needs reinstalling.
Anyway I've got it fixed which is the main thing.

Another question for you Gooner brianiacs. I got the iPhone 3 some time ago, at the time my computer was on the blink so I set it up on my sisters. This lead to a sorts of problems with the i tunes account it linked to and passwords etc. I eventually got it sorted and all was rosy in the garden. I've now upgraded to the 4S. My question is can I now back-up my current phone to my i tunes account and then set up the 4S or will this lead to all sorts of problems again?
