Will V.P sign a new contract???
Is it that Wenger, hypothetically speaking, on realising RVP wants to go, will purposely only flog him to City? For two reasons: 1) Arsenal would get the most money and 2) It reflects very badly on RVP, because it looks like he's left for the money rather than the ambition?
I only ask because, as per some rumblings on Arseblog, Nasri actually wanted to join Man Utd but Wenger refused this, only sanctioning the move to Man City. I'm wondering if he did this so that it just looks like a question of money, rather than ambition?

My hunch is that he will stay. Just a feeling.
To be completely honest though, I'm too scared to put any serious thought into the issue because I'm scared I'd conclude he'll leave if the right opportunity comes along.
I really, REALLY hope he decides to stick out his playing career at Arsenal. We need another immortal in the pantheon of the Arsenal, especially one who's prominence was primarily at the Emirates.

Any rational criteria you use (money, ambition) suggests he should go but then if he is a man of true substance he will give us a couple more years considering how long we stood by him and his injuries.
Im hopeful he will stay but im not expecting it. I wont hate him if he goes because i will understand it but i will be disappointed

One thing about RVP is, that he's a consummate pro and a real football man. Unlike that dickhead Nasri, who's in football for cash, hoes and ego, RVP is in it for the game he loves. Those talking about money are deluded.
You're 28.
This is your last big contract.
You are one of the three best strikers in the world.
You dream of winning the CL.
You dream of a league title.
You dream of a ballon d'Or.
Remember, RVP will also want to step up his game a few levels and push himself harder. Yes the club stood by him but more than anything, RVP has to be liy to himself.
He could move to Citeh and guarantee a league title and surround himself with better players.
He could go to Real and train with Ronaldo, Kaka and Di Maria and be managed by a manager who's won everything.
Or he could join Barca and play with the best player in the world, under the best manager in the world today, and with the best team in the world who have cleaned up every trophy almost over the past four years.
You honestly think RVP will look at "the fight for 4th", Chamakh, Park, Diaby and the returning Denilson, and want to stay?
He'a seen Cesc get promised the world by Wenger and then get fucked. Cesc earns LESS at Barca now than he did with us.
As usual the culprit in all this is Wenger.
Instead of building a serious team this year with all that money, he sold our best players, made money and signed a load of mediocrity that would get nowhere near any elite Europeam squad.
He will go and it'll sting but it's down to the joker in charge

If a player wants to leave, then they can leave. You can't force a person to stay at the club.
If he leaves us now for a team in England it will only be for money and not ambition.
Man U being no1, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and to some extent City now; if you play for any of these clubs, you are regarded as playing at the highest level in England.
Moving between these clubs is probably for money, personality clashes, etc but ambition.
IF Arsenal gives him a good contract, then I hope he stays. He will never play as good as he does here, this is his peak. I don't see him doing well in a team he is not the number one guy.
If Arsenal gives him around 200k, then I genuinely see him staying.
He loves it here, his family has settled very well, and he seems to relish the role of being captain.

If (when) he's sold, it has to be abroad. It'd be an absolute joke if Citeh snared another player from Arsenal and Wenger should be chased and harangued if it ever happens again. I'm sure Citeh would like Rooney, Vidic, Modric, Bale, Suarez etc. Now. None of Manure, Scouse or Spuds can compete with Citeh. But you can be dam sure they won't be selling their talismans to Citeh. Ffs Spuds can't compete with Chelski but still wouldn't sell Modric, built a better team and now Modeic may sign a new deal.
It would be Unacceptable to sell to Citeh, especially after hearing Wenger bitch about their "financial doping" for soooo long.

Although I love Bergkamp, it was a far easier decision for him to stay with the trophies he was winning and team he was playing with.olgitgooner wrote:Maybe RVP will look at the example set by his fellow Dutchman DB10. And realise that being a legend is more important than extra money.
But he'd be silly to stay purely because of sentiment.
The club needs to improve the quality of the players around him.
Van Persie hasnt had that luxury or success, and probably never will win many trophies if he stays.

Vermaelen signed a new contract the other week did he not? Think we've got him for a few more years thankfully. Would be worried about Jack & Szczesny in a year or two's time though...frankbutcher wrote:Won't happen. He will leave. Followed by:1989 wrote:Can't argue with your points Baba.
