I disagree. For much of my football-supporting life it has been clear that both winning after playing badly, and getting three points full stop, are what the best teams are all about.augie wrote:Sutch wrote:I'm not trying to spoil the celebrations but how many times do we say "shit performance" and you hear "Arsenal weren't at their best"? We seem to get that every other game, and it's been happening for about three or four years.
Thats where I am too - I know at the end of the day the 3pts is paramount but for me a late winner doesnt mask the pure absolute shite performance that the team put on again today in much the same way I would argue that conceding a last minute goal wouldnt have made our performance any worse than if we hadnt of conceded. Yes it is a results business and winning playing badly is a trait that we used to love in years gone by but back then those type of days were a rarity while nowadays they are a frequent occuranceDo we aspire to become a team that regularly wins by playing well ? If we do then we have to look beyond the 3pts sometimes and acknowledge that we are a poor team going nowhere fast
Let's try to enjoy that we are making something of a season that we all feared at the start, might have unprecedented consequences. It is hard to see what we would have to.do to please some people. The glass is half full right now, looking at the big picture.
