He can't have Henry to the end of the season, he goes back to the States in MARCH. So even if Henry did a job till then, we'd still have just one decent striker at the most important time of the season, when we CRUMBLE every year!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

If he goes out and buys a top european striker, you'll be saying "he's wasted money on a cup-tied player! what a useless git"

If he buys a quality but little-known european or african player you'll say "Why are we buying unproven talent? what a useless git"

If he buys a great striker from a lower club in England you'll say "If he's not good enough for (Enter team name) then why is he good enough for us? We need a big european name thats what we need! what a useless git"

So what does he do? Get a stop-gap until the end of the season when he could (not COULD, I doubt he will) go and buy a world-class player and not worry about any of the issues. I'd rather we get Henry as a stop-gap than play Park.
Who will say that? Most fans dont expect us to win the CL, a 4th place finish and hopefully the FA cup is all we should be expecting this season. Besides there are decent strikers in Europe who are not cup tied. Infact given that RVP's contract is expiring and that there is no indication he will sign an extension, it will make sense to sign a top striker now. But when did we ever did anything in the transfer market that made sense?

Henry might be an improvement on Chamakh and Park but thats not saying much is it?

bringing henry isnt a good thing.

what if he isn't so...good, do anyone of us want to see that?

Wenger is basically admitting he didnt watch chamakh in france, but still signed him for what, 4 years?

He also bought Park for kicks.

I've been saying for ages, since eduardo, buy a striker, but I havent got a clue why he thought chamakh could do a job and I have to put park down as a panic buy.

On the one hand the chances of getting anyone decent in January combined with the chances of Wenger spending big to get someone half decent are, as we all know, nil. So what do we do, wait for RVP to burn himself out and have no back up or get someone in until the end of the season who is still quality in mind and body but maybe not speed anymore.

If I could get a promise from Wenger that he will do what's right for the club in the Summer and spend big then Henry coming back will do for now. Not the perfect scenario but we know the manager and club that we're dealing with these days
this 100%. I was hoping the ACN was going to be the encouragement wenger needed to sign a proven goalscorer but instead we get a cheap, risk free alternative that will satisfy the sheep at the bowl :? :banghead:
still, would love to see Henry and RVP form a partnership again :barscarf:

Not a good idea for several reasons, the short loan time, the fact that he is 34,and the possibility that his Legendary status may be tarnished by a poor display,(a bit like watching a great fighter taking on one fight too many).

In fact he looked better and sharper than the listless displays he gave in 2005.
Yeah the season he scored 30 goals in 42 games  He really was listless in 05 wasnt he?

I think its a bad move bringing him back. But he wont cost a fee so perfect for a "big" club like us
Sorry, late night - I meant 2007. He was pants - 10 goals...

So in my eyes his legend ended on a bad note, and this is his chance of redemption perhaps ?

They said it was a stomach strain, but I think it was more the divorce.

I'd like him back if it works for him.

Generally not a fan of re-signing players, but in this case he's still a better option than Chamakh.
Never mind Dan - Sky Sports News were running with a story that a swap deal with Fulham, Chamakh for Zamora, is also being considered. Now Thierry on loan long after Barca were done with him, plus the all conquering Bobby Zamora - that'll have Madrid, Barca & co shitting themselves

No mention of Sammy's nailed Goetze deal surprisingly. I've got the rotten tomatoes ready for Sam !

My dream signing...

Henry on loan, Zamora in Chamakh out..

Hopefully Fulham accept and Bobby Z can enter our world! Was this a good source on SSN?

In an ideal world Wenger would sign a top class, big name striker next month AND Henry, but that world doesn't exist and Henry is all we get, with respect to the big man of course.

Yep, lets stand back and admire what we do in this window compared to our rivals.

Chelsea - identified CB position as a weakness. In talks with Cahill - and before anyone bangs on about 'resources' the fee is allegedly down to £7 million now and his wages will hardly be earth shattering at Bolton

Man U - will almost certainly sign a top class midfielder

Liverpool & Spurs have managers that are already on record as saying they will strengthen and have owners with a track record of backing their managers with investment

We on the other hand will dither about signing ex-Gooner veterans on loan, a stop gap left back and that will be that.

Oh sorry Sammy I forgot, Goetze's coming too

It would be such a pointless move, waste of time and money but it wouldn't surprise me.

It is just more bury your head in the sand movement from Wenger, he knows we can't rely on van Persie yet he refuses to be proactive as usual and would rather be reactive when the window is shut.

Why does a club of this size need to loan stop gaps?
