I would like to consider myself to be an average law abiding citizen whose faith in the police has been slowly eroded by their behaviour towards me in almost every situation where I have been forced to interact with them at and away from football.
I was always raised to respect the police but they have bought my personal hatred for them on themselves.

I have to show some sympathy for the police here, right near the end of the clip it seemed like they were backing off and moving back down pitchside, only for a few idiots to rush back in and push them down the stairs.
If they felt hard done by because they were denied freedom of speech for a shit reason then i can understand that point of view, but you made your point clear, no need to cause more fucking problems if they were moving away.

He was probably in a London hospital with a compass point postcode, just one out in the suburbs.

My Niece's husband, the police officer from Coventry, was round yesteday, for Christmas,so I took the opportunity to ask him if he knew what had gone on re that You Tube clip,
This is what he told me:-
The Cov fan in question noticed that a Copper at the game was not displaying the number on his uniform,(as required).
The policeman apologised,(he had forgotten them apparently),and told the guy his number.
The Cov fan,(who had apparently had a few),would not let it go,and alledgedly got more confrontational, and his swearing escalated.
At this point he was told to calm down,or he would be asked to leave the stadium.
Apparently he persisted, and was finally asked to leave, which he didn't.
The policeman at this point began to physically attempt to eject him,at which point a few of the Cov fans mates joined in.
That is what I have been told.
By the way Irish Gooner,he also says thanks for calling him corrupt, and is impressed that you have the freedom to condemn an entire section of society in that way,and that if he did so he would sacked!!!
Also, just to put your mind at rest I.G.,he was on duty at the Coventry City v Bristol City match today and didn't beat anyone up,or take any bribes!!!

Dont mean to sound harsh mate (and you'll know that in this thread i havent been totally critical of the police) but "forgot" to wear his number? Sorry like, but anyone who has gone away regularly will have experienced some aggro from the cops and they all seem to be without numbers, its not the kind of thing you forget. As I say, I think the police there looked harshly treated and there was no sign of what led up to the problems, but "forgetting" a number sounds very convinient tbhRugby Gooner wrote:My Niece's husband, the police officer from Coventry, was round yesteday, for Christmas,so I took the opportunity to ask him if he knew what had gone on re that You Tube clip,

I agree mate, but apparently it was a genuine mistake, but who knows.I am only going by what my Niece's hubby says, and he knows the guy in question.safcftm wrote:Dont mean to sound harsh mate (and you'll know that in this thread i havent been totally critical of the police) but "forgot" to wear his number? Fair enough mate, not doubting you but I think theres probably more to this than meets the eye. For instance, I cant normally see a coppers number unless im in very close quarters- the lad ejected wasnt at the front of the stand so why did he even manage (unless he has proper eagle eyes and a burning sense of injustice) to notice the lad didnt have his number on? I think they must have had conversations first tbh, its not the kind of thing you look for if youre just a normal fan sitting at the ground. If it does happen and the cop says its an honest mistake then you'd probably accept it- if the blokes just standing doing his job why would you doubt it?
The only reason youd mention it is if he was near to you and being, in your opinion, an arsehole. I go to a lot of games and dont look at the cops, i certainly wouldnt notice the lack of a number! The cop probably isnt as innocent as he likes to suggest and neither is the fan, the truth will probably never come out (and i dont blame the cop, I'd be going around saying how innocent I was aswell- hell, in high security prisons everyone claims to be innocent, not many people would say "tbh i was a bit of a prick")

Again,I agree mate.I think that they had probably had a run- in,either "professionally",or in or around the ground.safcftm wrote:Fair enough mate, not doubting you but I think theres probably more to this than meets the eye. Cheers mate- best wishes to you and yours, all the Gooners, and to AFC for 2012 (well, except for when we play you in February, at which point I hope you lose but bounce back with a win in MilanRugby Gooner wrote:Again,I agree mate.I think that they had probably had a run- in,either "professionally",or in or around the ground.safcftm wrote:Fair enough mate, not doubting you but I think theres probably more to this than meets the eye. I haven't "swallowed" it mate,I am just "reporting" it! Trust me, I was involved in the Miners' Strike,C.N.D. etc in the 80's,as well as going to Football then,so I know exactly what the Fuckers are capable of!!!frankbutcher wrote:Cops on Football Duty acting the c**t..... SHOCK HORROR. The majority bring trouble on themselves, to justify their sorry existence (and more over-time payments). Rugby - you seem like a sensible guy, but I'm surprised you've swallowed this pile of bullshit.

There's always Good and Bad...both plod, stewards and of course some fans do go for the ruck.....
Bt the Plod are guilty of inflaming situations when there is/was nothing - 3 (?) seasons ago - we were playing the inbreds at the bowl...and on the walk frokm the Rocket to the ground - the inbreds started throwing bottles tec...and what did the Plod do - they waited till the inbreds had run off - being chased by some Gooners then piled in on us Gooners...
I would like to say I Trust the Plod - But I don't, not anymore - I've witnessed too many incidents of heavy handed ness and over zealous baton work - often unnecessarily so.....
It was the same during the Miners Strikes
The plod (with the help of the Army) kicked the absolute shyte out of strikers and innocent people...I' went on a few Peaceful CND/Grrenpeace demo's back in the 70's and 80's in London and the Plod used to enjoy causing trouble giving anyone they fancied a good kickin' calling me and my mates every racist and abusive name you can imagine......sad but True.
I'm sure there are plenty of individuals within the police who are honest and fair...but there are farmore fuckheads and power ego's...and it's them that have tarnished the once good name of the 'British Bobby'
