How many games do you get to a season on average?. I struggle
To get to two, I usually bring my son with me, so you are looking
At a five am start and a return after midnight. The cost is rarely
Under 400 sterling and rising with every season.
Do you feel insulted by the term "day tripper", personally I like to
Think it's aimed at others but what do you think, do they mean us?

I only get to 1 a season and normally go on my own.Im lucky in that my uncle has season tickets and i stay with him and his family so i normally make a weekend of it.In saying that unless i win a few bob i wont be going this season.My son makes his communion (for you athesists thats a big thing here in ireland) and then a month later my stepdaughter gets married so all available funds are going into those.

As for being called a daytripper or tourist it doesnt bother me ive followed arsenal since 1978 and lived in london in the late 80s early 90s and went to games every week.Even for the 98 cup final i travelled to london in the hope i could get a ticket but in the end watched the match in Quinns in Camden.I even went down to highbury later that night standing outside a chinese takeaway eating pork balls singing stand up if you hate tottenham while pissed out of my head.(Good times young free and single) Mind you the way some guys go on on here i reckon you would have to have been born in the toilets in highbury to be a proper fan

So far this season I have only been over three times but am intending to be at manure and scum games

If I am honest I could probably have made it over to a couple more matches but it is very hard to justify the effort and cost (especially in this climate) when you see the way our club is going

For me I leave home at approx 5.30am for a 3pm sat kick off and I generally get home that night around 11pm.
Cost for me per trip is approx 200 euro which doesnt inc price of match tkts cos have already paid for season tkts at that stage.
If I was called a day tripper then yes I would very much resent it - for me day tripper should refer to your tourist once a season fan and not a season ticket holder that has supported the club for over 35 years

I have sorted my tickets for the NLD which brings up another aspect of
Topic, due to me going to matches over the years and joining the
Ticket membership scheme when it started I have a silver membership and
Can therefore pick and choose my matches, I do however get a bit pissed off
Reading comments on here about local fans being kept out by the day trippers. Over to the home grown gooners for comments on this

i work shifts, so whatever matches i get to are when im not working. in the main i would be over 6 times per season, mostly for the 3 pm kos on a sat. id average round Â£150,(all in) for flying over on a sat morn, ad back again for 11ish in the evening. as i cant get a flight back into derry on a saturday evening, i normally fly from belfast int. over tice in febuary, for the blackburn, and spuds games, bring it on

I'm a Plastic Paddy here I suppose but it always winds me up when people come on here telling the Irish lads to 'go and support Bohs/St. Pats/Cork/Sligo' whatever.

It not only shows ignorance about the Irish but also shows a large amount of ignorance about their own club itself.

Most of my uncles moved back to Ireland in the 'good times' (although I expect to see them with my cousins back over here soon!

) but they lived in Highbury, Finsbury Park and Hornsey, etc. the entire time they lived over here from the 70s to the early 2000s.

They went to the club week-in, week-out, followed us away when they could and did basically what any Londoner would have done had he been born in N5 or surrounding.

This can be taken the wrong way, but a 'foreign' fan who has decided to follow the team recently is in a different boat to an Irish fan for me.

The Irish still run all the bloody pubs around the area anyway! Look at the names of the places in Finsbury Park, and even those that aren't called 'Paddy McGinty's Goat' or whatever, still have an Irish surname above the door.

I'll never call an Irish Arsenal fan a daytripper. Most of them spent most of their lives living far closer to Highbury than a 'died in the wool Gooner' from Herts etc.

Also, '...by far the greatest team' is to the tune of 'The Wild Rover'! That and 'Bejesus said Paddy' shows a huge Irish connection. We as nationalities of fans are all equals but the Irish are more equal than the rest

Get to around 12 to 15 games myself.

Bring the woman and daughter to about 4 (included in the 12 or 15)

Up at 4am back at 2am when doing day tripper. Cost = â‚¬40 flights + Gatwick All Day Travel Card only Â£11 pp (Â£1 for a child

)+ booze and food.

If staying over night stay in Premier Inn Â£29 for 3 of us

Have 3 season tickets with my brother and cousin for the last 3 years and we have wasted 2 matches so far (coz of snow) which I think is great. Have had to use ticket exchange a couple of times and they sold

I only get to 2-3 games a season due to shift work, baby sitting, costs Â£139 for train, car Â£70-80, bus is Â£40 or if we are lucky get a megabus then its about a Â£10 then room in Victoria so we can get up and get the bus in the morning etc - I personally would love to go every week - but for those above reasons I cant.

i know what games im going to about 3 months in advance, after tv fixtures are announced, so i book my flights then. in the main, id fly from aldergrove, with easyjet and the odd time with aerlingus. rtn flight normaly is no more than Â£70.

not a chance, bar the ticket, and match day progamme, arsenal can stick their (official) merchandise up their ????? paying through the roof to watch walcott, arshavin, diaby is enough, without giving anymore to the cnuts. do my arsenal shopping on ebay, or the usuall outlets.
