CHESNEY ARSENAL LEGEND
g88ner, youre living in the past mate. A club, just like any business, should be constantly evolving their standards above what things were before, and that is what were seeing in the premier league. look how Rooney got banned and fined a weeks salary just for going out for a meal, he missed a game that he was greatly needed in.
Although, on field, Shezney is still class, contrary to what Red Member says, going out partying hours after a defeat is not a professional way to go about a defeat. it shows to the fans that he doesnt really care, and that surely will have an impact on his own performance and development. Nothing wrong with players going out and having fun, they are human after all...there's even decent players out there that enjoy a fag now and again. its just the timing of it, its not very professional.

I don't think I am living in the past; I just don't see a reason to be outraged by it. We have busy enough lives as it is, without concerning ourselves with trivial matters like whether our 'keeper has a couple of drinks in the evening (or maybe he didn't have a drink??).FatChaz wrote: Although, on field, Shezney is still class, contrary to what Red Member says, going out partying hours after a defeat is not a professional way to go about a defeat. it shows to the fans that he doesnt really care, and that surely will have an impact on his own performance and development. He hasn't got a game for 2 weeks and maybe he has a day off tomorrow? - I don't know. Hell, maybe he was ALLOWED to go out?? again, I don't know.
And I don't care.
That's for Wenger to care about, if he chooses. Maybe Chesney won't perform well in training on Tuesday after his late night out, but maybe a day off has refreshed him and it hasn't effected him in training at all.... again, I don't know, and neither do you or Baba.
I don't know, maybe Chesney is on the road to failure but maybe he's not... I don't know.
All I know is that on the pitch, he seems to be progressing quite well for a young lad.
you said 'you dont know' quite alot there...speaks volumes to me. if youre not living in the past, why did you mentions players in the 30s, 40s and 50s in your post then? i can only comment on what you say, im not making it up.
Chesney is class on the pitch, but the fact is, im seeing our goal keeper at a nightclub after a bit of a howler in goal and a cheap defeat. it's not the right way to go about a defeat, its not going to do any favours for his performance and development. looks like a bit of a piss take from a fan's point of view. Its not just Chesney though, it's something that's been going on for some time as Cesc confessed. it obviously isnt the right way for a player to behave after a defeat, because youre trivialising the defeat...and the more you do that the more defeats become acceptable, which isnt good for our game. no wonder we have been losing more games than we used to 10 years ago. so if you dont care about this then youre a bit of a mug, im sorry to say.

Speaks volumes about what? - I don't have all the answers. How much did he drink? did he have a day off the next day? did he have permission from the club? - I don't know.FatChaz wrote:you said 'you dont know' quite alot there...speaks volumes to me.
so if you dont care about this then youre a bit of a mug, im sorry to say.
I'm not sure what that speaks volumes of.... what point are you making?
As for me being a mug - why the insult? have I upset you somehow?? sorry if I have, but I don't know who you are so I'm confused by your hostility.
I don't care too much about this Chesney stuff because I don't have all the facts, as I state above - until I do, I'm not going to hammer the lad.
IF he was is training the next day and didn't have permission to go out then he should be fined. Definitely.
As for it being after a defeat... I think that's irrelvant. I know hardcore gooners who go our after a defeat. It doesn't mean they don't care. So the ONLY issue for me is whether he was allowed out and whether he was in training the next day (therefore shouldn't be drinking).
I'm not sure why you think I'm a mug. Seems a tad harsh. I also don't think I'm an AKB as you said on that other thread - I want Wenger gone.
As I said, I don't get your hostility and I'm confused by the logic of it, mate. I'm not that bad you know... so give me a chance!

how can you compare a few hardcore gooners to an Arsenal player?! its these constant excuses that youre bringing up, trying to paper over the cracks, that makes you a mug. i dont need to know someone to judge their statements as being that of a mug or not...opinions are formed on cyber space, especially forums, its how it has been and will be forever. but you should know this already since youre not living in the past, so dont take too much offence.g88ner wrote:Speaks volumes about what? - I don't have all the answers. part of developing as a player is acting responsibly and like a professional, not some chav. The thing that concerns me as a fan, is that he is in there partying, and brushing off a defeat like that as though it isnt any thing. i dont care how much he drank, or if he frank at all, or even whether he was allowed to or not. As a player striving to be the best he can, he shouldnt be there right AFTER a defeat. Jack's excuse was that he isnt playing so he wasnt part of the defeat, and just a fan drowning a bit of the blues, which is what most of us do.
i dont think he should be fined or anything anal like that. Wenger should at least explain to them that they shouldnt do this, and set them guidelines. the more professional they are regarding defeats and their performance generally, the less likely it would be for them to perform in such a way.

I have seen many photos of drunk people (mostly from nights out and the curse of iPhone!!) but jesus he doesn't look drunk or anywhere near it.
Anyway what if he was? No one on here knows if they had permission to go out, if he had the next day off, if he had a few days off, if he wasn't drinking, if it was actually 10pm!!!! Why are most of the topics on here based off rag articles? Are there hacks on here trying to promote these nonsense stories. As if no one on here has had a few drinks on a night out with work the next day?

Fair enough.FatChaz wrote:

Just out of interest though, how do we know he was acting like a chav (was he happy slapping people on the bus?? throwing bottles at passing cars??) and, more importantly, how do we KNOW he was brushing off defeat "like it didn't happen"?

I accept he should probably stay out of the public eye after a defeat though. However, I'd say the same should be the case for Wilshere too... despite injury. The club should stick together.
But, as I said, like a mug I don't have all the facts so I'm not going to hammer the lad just yet.

He was to blame for the defeat v Spurs
He was the guy who will always be remembered for letting EIGHT goals in at Old Trafford
I reckon Almunia should be considered as a serious alternative should Wenger not buy another keeper this month. Almnunia's record is much better than Chesney's I'm afraid to say
Cock!!!
What sort of person, after a bitter defeat like today, runs to bump up an old thread? You sad, sad man.Babatunde wrote:So so so. "Arsenal legend" Chesney (who has won fuck all in the game).
Which trendy nightspot shall he frequent tonight to show off in? After his amazing contributions at Fulham and Swansea; I think he's earned it.

It was a typical, lethargic, uninspired Arsenal display.
What would you have him do, create a new thread saying how he fucked it for the third goal?
You know how them mods love a repeat thread.
