FA Cup Time.

Post by Gunnersaurus »

So then, what do you think?

Will Wenger really try to win this or will he do his usual trick of treating it like a second rate competition?

Common sense says van Persie must be rested but will he approach it properly or just treat it like the Carling Cup?

Some good games this week-end, Blackpool-Fleetwood amongst others. And come on Oldham, you can get back into it!!!

We'll get past Leeds and perhaps one other team before we get an away game at a not too difficult team and then bottle it as usual.

The FA Cup will always be special to us as fans with so many highs and lows over the years. Unfortunately the reality is that it is now 3rd in the pecking order for most clubs.
A competition full of wonderful memories for all of us :barscarf:

This.

A boring game against Leeds in a half empty stadium (or maybe not, clever trick to shift tickets this Henry business!) on a Monday fucking night of all times in a competition that is treated with utter disdain by everyone from the FA to ourselves, can't get excited for it at all. Shame, because it was once the greatest domestic cup competition there is.

Sure it's a possibility, but are you ever optimistic about anything in life?

Plenty mate, but not Arsenal under Wenger. 6 years of the same old shit has taken it all out of me where Arsenal are concerned and every time that muppet Wenger opens his mouth it just confirms my fears.

Afraid I think this is a strong possibility...Leeds fans will make the athmosphere, their players will respond..ours will look like rabbits in headlights. Or maybe (HOPEFULLY) I'm wrong.

I absolutely hate the way we fuck around with this competition. It fucking well means something to me, and I'm sure it does to thousands of others. Sort it out Wenger...

Arsenal v Leeds in the FA Cup really should mean something!

Unfortunately, it will only be remembered for the return of an ageing hero.

All a bit of a circus really which is a shame!

Have a look at the timing of the Fifth Round in terms of the games we have got lined up around that fixture - Milan, Spuds etc

I expect us to limp past Leeds, probably the 4th round too.....and then what will be the fucking point. By the 5th round there's usually only PL and Championship clubs left - we'll get drawn away, play a weakened team as they'll all be 'in the red physically'......and we'll get done.

A great competition and one we have a very proud history in but not recently. Playing that *word censored* Fabianski at Wembley against the Chavs (and resting Arshavin who at the time was our best player), losing 4-0 at Old Trafford, the shambles at Stoke (oh yes again our useless friend was in goal).

I just don't see the point of taking any of the round seriously unless you have the intent to play a full strength team in every round. Might as well go out at the first hurdle. Either do a Beer Cup and play all kids or treat the thing with respect from start to finish. We need to win something - we won't finish in the top 4 and we won't win the CL, so why not take the cup seriously
