Luis Suarez

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

For me, and I think the law too (?) an insult becomes racist when you qualify the insult with skin colour.

Thus if you call someone a "Stupid dirty cúnt" it's an inult. You call them a "Stupid dirty black cúnt" then it is racist.

Pretty simple I think.
Didn't someone earlier in the thread say that it was like being called "ginge" or "stupid ginger c**t"

Yeah... not the most informed statement, was it? Everyone knows Gingers are not a seperate race. They are a seperate species...

Was anyone offended by Alan Hansen calling Black players "Coloured?"

An out of date word, but surely not used in any racist context by Hansen.

As for Suarez, I would have to take some Uruguyans' explanation of the context of the word used.

I don't get offended by shit, tbh. I'm pretty much even coloured with Chamakh and have been called black in kind of a derogatory way by a taxi driver in Oireland and laughed it off, no sweat.

Of course it's probably because I lack the background of abuse to get actually offended.

Being the mutt I am , I end up getting light abuse from several backgrounds, most of which i don't have.

He said it, He admitted he said it, they weren't mates so it was said as a bate and insult/patronising remark.

Call me fat, call me ugly but leave my colour out of it. If you can't see why that should be considered offensive then you should get a history lesson. FYI some people chose to be fat no one chooses to be black.

The ban is not excessive. If you think it is excessive then try the same remark at work and see if the boss gives you just a PAID week off work to'reflect'. :banghead: :banghead:

It's quite sad that Suarez's comments are being subtly condoned by some on here.

I went to school in Scotland in the late 70s when shit like this was being done by even teachers, sad to see that some on here think it's no big deal to make my colour their main point of reference when they insult me.

All I will say is don't do it to my face
You are saying that like its a bad thing. Are you not proud to be black ? If you had a choice would you change it ? I hope not

I must admit I didn't know anyone would find the term 'coloured' offensive!

I guess I should know better in this mad PC world!

(Cue the computer jokes)

I believe the wearing of those shirts by the Liverpool players brought this saga to a new low. Actually the wearing of one by their manager even went beyond low. I am sick of looking at Dalglish's sarcastic smirks every time he does an interview..He is a poor manager who is adored by fans whos heads are as far up their own arses as can be. They can see no wrong in their club or manager. We appear to be the complete opposite on this forum , our club or manager can do no right.
This whole thing with Liverpool is tedious, they are not treated differently in football, except when it's in their favour.

A Black person will tell you that a white person is coloured; we go blue with cold, red when we're hot etc. It is a word that could be deemed offensive to some Black people. Depends who you talk to don't it?

as my grandma used to say - empty vessels make the most noise
some Liverpool fans (more than a few) are embarrassing constant victims
some (again more than a few) are proper football fans
I remember this honest article
http://www.liverpool-kop.com/2008/04/li ... eague.html

Suarez incident is unfortunate for him - centre of a perfect storm
1 - 'racism' ie saying forbidden words, is at the forefront of our consciousness. IMO the 'race card' is being played - by our millionaire overlords who want us, their wage slaves, to be distracted by internecine peasant BS. Every rude word story is HUGE at the moment from this to tram loonies.
2 - Blatter is a prime target of the UK press, partly because he's a massive knobber but mostly because he's an easier target that the disgusting Premier league (never criticised) and the pathetic FA (England manager gets hit far worse). This 'hard on racism' schtick is a stick to beat Blatter with.
3 - Suarez has a bad reputation, partly for the biting incident but mostly for the handball we all saw on telly (or more importantly his reaction when Gyan misses). The handball is exactly what I want any Arsenal player to do at the same point in a big CL KO game.
4 - he has been picked out by Fergie as a cheat so is targeted
5 - he, like most Prem players, is actually a cheat

ultimately he tried to wind up Evra (who is a scumbag) and succeeded.
We've all seen Evra pre/post and during matches try and infuriate opposition players. Foolish from Suarez but FFS Argentine mates of mine call me negrito cause I'm a little dude with black hair. Hansen may be a dinosaur, I hate the fact that his phoned in half pished descriptions for the blind are paid for out of my license fee, 'coloured' is a silly phrase (coloured purple...green?) but he only made himself look an eejit. Anyone whose feelings were hurt by that shouldn't be watchin telly for fear of the adverts hypnotising them.

Oh Luis Suarez,
we know Evra’s a *word censored*,
But you just can’t call him black,
Just can’t call him black.

He’s a mouthy, short-arsed bastard,
And diving little runt,
But you just can’t call him black,
Just can’t call him black.

Would have been better giving him a slap
Now you’re just going to have to face the rap

Da, da, da-da-da, da, da,
Da, da, da-da-da, da, da,
Da, da, da-da-da, da, da,
You’re a racist

Da, da, da-da-da, da, da,
Da, da, da-da-da, da, da,
Da, da, da-da-da, da, da,
You’re a racist

Nice to see the classless Mickeys jumping to his defence and showing themselves up for the victims they always show themselves to be.....

Surely there's a local police force they can blame for this and run a 20 year hate campaign against. Perhaps they'll boycott all the newspapers that reported it too :banghead:

I am very regret when Arsenal could not buy him. He is a good player and very strong,he can score more and more goals. What do you think about: "Suarez is a perfect for Robin Van Persie"?
