Wenger Out Banner

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Certainly it'll be interesting to see what the gooners mood is like should 4th place be achieved without an FA Cup triumph or a particularly good CL run. I'd agree with you that another season of stagnation would be unacceptable, but I just think that if there wasnt mass support behind the banner and no/ very few wenger out chants at the height of the bad run at the start of the season it'd be surprising if after "recovering" and getting back into the CL again there was suddenly a swelling of support for kicking him out.

You'll know better than me of course but it just seems that a lot of the Arsenal support are seriously pro-wenger and would need a lot worse than 4th place to happen before turning on him. There will always be pro and anti Wenger fans of course, I suppose the test will be at what point the "moderate" gooners lose patience and want to act and whether they lose patience with wenger, the board or both

Yes. Can't give you an exact time but barring a miraculous sea change (which let's face it ain't gonna happen) you will this season.

:fishing:

The RedMember Dictionary Definition of Sea change...

Beat a load of tripe (Shrewsbury, Bolton etc), then revert to type drawing and losing to Fulham, Wolves etc in December / January.

Yes - in your words, we have gone through a sea change. We also have the tactical equivalent of Captain Birdseye in charge!

So I'm assuming we have gone ahead of the Y*ds and the Ch*vs then?

Otherwise the way I see it we are staring down the barrel of a gun marked "Europa League". The only sea change there has been means the water has been infested with human excrement from the Souless Bowl.

Gonna have to re-post this as nothing anyone has said has changed anything.
Waiting for bad results is pish. The results have been bad for 6+ years now.
We all know the failings. The banner is about these failings repeated consistently and relentlessly for years. It has more to do with that than any bad results that may come our way over the coarse of this season.

Fuck the AKB's, fuck the board, fuck Wenger and fuck the dayglos. Lets get the fuckin thing up and be fuckin proud that we are not gonna go whimpering to the end of another trophyless and frustrating season without having the balls to stand up and do something about it.

Its time to have the courage of our convictions and let it be known how unhappy we are. Let them know we want Wenger out.
Lets worry instead about whats happening to AFC and try in our own small way to change it.
I guarantee we will feel much better and our conscience will be clear that at least we tried............
Yeah..... I'm ready to do it at Leeds. Just need a ticket in Club Level. 8)

armchair supporter +1

Had I the time/money or inclination to attend games at the Emirates, i would gladly take the banner in.

I however am voting with my feet & will continue to do so until I see change, starting with Wenger.

If only EVERYONE did the same.... :banghead:

Nope, I'm gonna stand up for him on this one.

Can't be having that said about the man.

Look, he doesn't just do fish fingers you know.

Chicken Griddlers, Waffles, Chargrills, Dippers, Pies

Plenty of variety and new ideas coming out of Birdseye after all these years.

With all due respect, what a load of bullshit this is. You don't bring the flag out when we went on a run of winning nine out of ten games or whatever the numbers were, you don't bring it out at any of the away games during that period despite saying you would, and now that we've lost to Fulham it's suddenly back on the agenda again.
Fickle. Stick to your principles. If you believed in your banner and what it represents then you should have stuck to that during our winning run. You lost all credibility by waiting for us to lose a game before bringing the topic back up again. Slate me all you want, you know it's true.

If you look, it wasn't one of us who bumped it.

It's been on the agenda the whole time. We've said since deciding not to show it at Sunderland, it'll be shown towards the end of the season when it's all cut and dried.

Hmm, from the things that both you and Frankbutcher have said on this thread that doesn't hold up for two reasons.

First is the claim that you have decided, since not showing it at Sunderland, to show the banner at the end of the season. And yet you say the following, displaying a willingness to show the banner not just at the end of the season but throughout it:
SWLGooner wrote:I am up for doing it any home game now till the end of the season. Aways as well but I don't get to every away.
SWLGooner wrote:Leeds works for me Frank. Shoot me a PM.
Secondly, Frankbutcher claims that the reason behind not showing the banner is that people would have claimed in September that the team's new signings had not gelled whereas in April/May people would not be able to use this as an excuse:
frankbutcher wrote:How has it been missed? If we'd shown it in September, the Board would have backed Wenger and claimed that the squad needed time to gel. In March / April time he will have no excuses. He has fucked it up and can look to no-one but himself for the reasons why.
frankbutcher wrote:Nahhh. We had just signed £50m of players, and the AKB would have asked for time to gel them in to the squad. If we are languishing well out of the Top 4 in the Spring, even the hardened Wengerites will have no excuse.Trust me. 8)
This doesn't hold up as an excuse either as the team we currently have is almost completely different to the one of last year and expecting this new squad to sudddenly gel together within the space of 7/8 months and end up winning the league is unrealistic, especially taking into account the sheer number of injuries we've had and the amount of rotation that has taken place, particularly amongst the defence.
If your benchmark for displaying the banner is dependent upon the factor of the team gelling then your timeframe is wrong for the reasons outlined above. That leaves two options, either disregard the 'gelling' argument and bring out the banner now, or understand the necessary required time period to properly judge the current team should be expanded on that which you have given.

Thank you and good night. 8)

my suggestion would be for swl and frank to not bother responding, as you've said it WILL be shown this season.

anyone else want to know more details do it by pm.

...otherwise to be fair if you keep posting about pre-meditated action that ends up not taking place, you really have to expect both questioning and wind ups.

Im an optimist, but also a realist. And I say the less said about your banner, the better.

la bas mento?
