SWANSEA AWAY THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

We'll be lucky to score more than 1 with the way we're playing at the mo so if RVP has an off day who's gonna step up for us apart from maybe henry from the bench again? Swansea are good at home, drew with the scum and narrowly lost to the mancs so I really can't see us winning this. 1-1 at best i'm afraid. :(

Thierry to score after RVP has scored once or twice. Park still won't play and Wenger will need to give Henry a run out.

I'm plunking for a win because quite frankly it's bloody Swansea.

I always think whenever people go on about 'great home records' it means they'll get beat. We seem to play better Away at times.

This game will big a huge test, dare I say it, of our 'mental strength'.

Before we play, Spurs will have coasted past Wolves at the Shitole, United likewise at home to Bolton, Liverpool will beat Stoke at Anfield (when's the last time Stoke showed up for an away game at one of the big clubs??), and although Sunderland are improving I would expect Chelsea still to beat them at home

So when we kick off on Sunday afternoon, if those straightforward games go according to plan then we'll be 6th - four points off the Chavs, an unbelievable 12 behind the Scum (yep that lucky team whose world is about to collapse in February whilst we stuff everyone including United :banghead: ) and United.

If ever there was a time for mental strength Wenger this is it. No mid-week game, a full week's rest. What's the excuse this time if it doesn't work out.

Go there and fucking beat Swansea please......next up after that United.

i do hope now that Henry's here and has scored on his debut, the team will get some confidence back. BUT there is a chance we can fuck this up. i want to see Henry and Ox involved in this game, so all going well, im going to say 3-1!
:worried:

I really am at a loss to understand the optimism on here.
Did you not watch the home game? Very lucky win.
Have you seen our form? Wolves? Fulham? Scraping a win against a Championship team?
Swansea have only lost once at home all season.

I hope I'm proved wrong but we'll do well to scrape a draw.

The problem is that we so rarely finish teams off. Apart from the 4-0 up at Wigan its been a while since I ever felt we were comfortable in a game. Since then we haven't won a game by more than 1 goal and have scored 8 in 8 games (a run of games that included Wolves, QPR and Leeds at home). That always gives teams like Swansea with strong home support and passion, a chance in the game. In the 2004 days this would have been a no-brainer, 0-4, with the game probably dead inside half an hour. The best we can hope for these days is to go in the nerve shredding last 10 minutes a goal up
