Wenger Out Banner - Reservations here
Wenger Out Banner - Reservations here
For all the people signing up for this to happen at United on another thread - I for one have my concerns.
I'm a big critic of Wenger - in a balanced way - but this is totally the wrong game to do this.
No good can come of it -
Imagine the following:
If we beat United - then you'll never be able to use the banner again
OR
If United win - Ferguson gets asked about the banner and it gives him a free run to do his underhand compliments
So anyone with RESERVATIONS on doing it at that game sign in below...

Re: Wenger Out Banner - Reservations here
Why, if we beat Utd can the banner never be shown again, it wont make everything ok if we beat Utd, it wont change anything at all. This is the perfect game for it to be shown, watched all over the world, loads of media coverage, the more people that hear about it the better. The banner should be shown at every game between now and the end of the season, no better place to start than against Man UAJAAFC wrote:For all the people signing up for this to happen at United on another thread - I for one have my concerns.

I have reservations in that I don't think it's exclusively Wenger's fault. He has to take a lot of the flack don't get me wrong, but ultimately it stems from the board room.
They are the ones with the power, they control the money, they control contract negotiations and purchasing players which Wenger earmarks.
People were angry we missed out on Mata... whose fault is that? If wenger said go get him, Gazidis is the negotiator and so why did it fall through? Surely that's Gazidis' fault?
If there is money available as the board assure us, why would AW not spend it? He's not a complete idiot - why would he make his position untenable if the funds were there?
And if they are there, why are the board not putting him under pressure to spend it? They hold the power to hire and fire - why not issue an ultimatum to the manager - sort it out this season or go.
For me, the board and Wenger should share equal blame. For us to force Wenger out of the club, then what? The board go and hire a yes man to come in and have the same limited funds? Meanwhile the board continue to hike the prices of tickets?
For me, there are too many unanswered questions about who is to blame. Even if it is AW, by attacking the board you are forcing the people with the power to react - either by firing him or forcing his hand.
By attacking AW, the board continue to sit pretty and let him take all the flack.
For me, the club is rotten to the core, and calling for Wenger's head, justified as it may be after the shambles of the last few seasons, is very short sighted.
For pressure to be sustained, you need to have the majority of fans on side. Calling for Wenger's head will fall flat on it's face because a lot of people there on match days, a lot of players and ex players, and a lot of people in the media, are still Wenger darlings.
On the other hand, pressure on the board ought to be universally agreed upon by AKBs included and gain a lot more support and momentum all round.
I'm neither an AKB or particularly Wenger out, I'm just trying to provide a reasonable view on a tricky situation. I just don't think it's as simple as getting rid of the manager to solve the club's problems. I think it runs deeper than that and I don't think we see the full story.
