A Good Footballing Philosophy goes a long way

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

A Good Footballing Philosophy goes a long way

Post by Wengerball »

I saw this fantastic article in the Telegraph- its an interview with Brendan Rodgers taken from before Swanseas game with us. He talks a hell of a lot of good sense and you can see his ideas being carried out on the pitch- no PR Bullshit, just good tactical sense.

In the end yesterdays result goes a long way to showing the significance of good tactical management and a solid progressive philosophy.

He talks about pressure off the ball as being a key part of the game and this is where I feel we fall down. They had the desire to close us down and you could contrast that with Arshavin who couldnt be arsed to track back.

(This is not a direct Anti-Wenger thread, just an appreciation of what good training and organisation can do even on a small budget.)

The passing game or tippy tappy football is so 2003/4, long balls hoofed forward are the future  Swansea play good football, maybe we have a contender for Wengers eventual replacement.
