SIX YEARS OF THEO

Post by Red Member »

6 years ago today a young 16 year old signed for us from Southampton.

6 years on Theo Walcott and Arsenal have yet to win a major honour, yet he remains in the first team. Is there a connection here? He is a good player but not a really top class one and you need top class players to win trophies.

I think the Walcott situation sums up the problems at the club these past few years
1) the players that have been bought have not been quite good enough
2) these players have been given too long to try to prove themselves. There hasn't been the ruthlessness required to get rid of them.
3) the players bought have like Theo been largely small and therefore injury prone - and we end up in a situation like now before a big game with effectively half the team not able to play.

The thing is he is 22, I do think he's judged far more harshly than a lot of other players. Probably due to a lot of goodwill towards him which has turned into frustration. I think Theo will become a good player, but sadly, probably not at Arsenal

6 years ago +: We moved from Highbury to the Grove.
6 years ago +: We stripped one of the best sides to grace the top division, the invincibles.

With all due respect to Theolights, if we was going to become what we all thought he would become, it would have happened by now. Truth is, he is a very inconsistent piece of a very ordinary player who is blessed with a turn of speed. Sorry, ladies and gentlemen, he is not going to make it, but unbelieveably, AW will offer him a bumper contract, and we end up no further forward. There was a true classic from Walnut on the AFC website 2 or 3 months ago - "People now gample on my crosses" said he - code for I still put a lot of crap into the box and I have come up with a great excuse.
Enough said.

in previous seasons he has been blighted by injuries, playing for club and country and just when he is starting to look good gets another injury

but this season there are no excuses and he has virtually been ever present

After seeing him just a few times I knew this useless, no trick pony, wasn't going to make it and 6 years later, the wanker is still here. He stays around longer than genital warts.... :banghead:
