RvP's reaction to THAT substitution

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

posted this on the match thread as well, but Ox was fatigued apparently  - even though 3 minutes earlier, his decisive run/pass had set up the equaliser... also, if he was fatigued, he was still our most dangerous midfielder.

Wenger killed us today with that decision. Have you ever seen momentum disappear so quickly? nutter!
it was good to see that reaction from the crowd though...there is a momentum happening.

Spot on Fat Chaz

We must keep the momentum going to get Wenger out. Those that want to keep Wenger are in total denial to what they see with their own eyes. This is only going one way. He must go now to limit the damage.

Sunday may be the day that the balance tipped in our favour.

Interesting piece on the daily mail website defending arshavin - as you know, I have in the past been one of the few who has defended the little russian and this article backs up a lot of what I used to say 8) Of course even I have ran out of patience with him over his lack of work ethic but at the same time I do feel that he has been an innocent victim in this situation cos it wouldnt have mattered who was being brought on because we were complaining about the ox being taken off not that arshavin was being brought on

sorry augie, but nothing explains his laziness and lack of commitment, it has NOTHING to do with being played out of position. vermaelen isn't a leftback, neither is coquelin, and for all that matters song is not a footballer  but still they work their asses wherever they are for the team that pays them. arteta is being played in a different role than he's used to.
arshavin can't finish to save his life - we talk about chamakh, park and walcott but i can remember at least 5 sitters that arshavin missed in this season and look at how many goals he scored in an arsenal shirt this season, 2 in 26 games it's no better than hleb would. he misses many passes and loses posession countless times EVERY FUCKING MATCH. 1 goal and 2 assists in 18 premier league appearances is less impressive than if we played traoré there. fuck me, i'd rather have carlos vela, odds are in 18 games he'll score at least two lobs.

of course he'd do better centrally behind the striker but it does not explain the huge pile of shit he's been.

he has the ability. that's all. just like walcott has pace and nothing else. you need many factors to be a good footballer, technique is just one of them.

i hate arshavin more than i hated adebayor and the quickest he fucks off the better for The Arsenal.

Mate we've been complaining about Arseshavin for years now. (I have anyway)
Hes gotta be the consistently worst player in an Arsenal shirt for at least a year and a half. Yes worse than feo!
I really dont get it when I hear people say he has the talent but is lazy, played out of position, plays well for Russia etc blah, blah.
I think hes just really shit and fat and lazy. Whereas Feos just shit!

Agree with everything in above post except the bit about ability. :)

Arseshavin and his continued appearances for Arsenal is just another of the many, many reasons why Wenger should be long gone. :(

Reasonable article but my interpretation is that he's taken a sly dig at wenger without pointing the finger at him. "Ruined by Arsenal", I bet he had to re-type that statement.
Could it be that Wenger has continualy played arshavin out of position to emphasise his point over spending large sums of money on established players? Look at the way he's played Arteta. He's gone from the best attacking midfielder in the premiership outside the top four, to an average defensive midfielder outside the top four. He places more emphasis song to get forward who is by far a better DM than Arteta,

No89, song isnt better than arteta at anything except the ability to continually foul and being able to waddle his arse around the pitch like a baby elephant  I am 42 years old, "slightly" overweight ( ) and my best days are behind me but my mobility is still far better than song's, my ability to tackle is miles ahead of song's and my comprehension of the passing rules (ie pass to somebody wearing the same shirt as you  ) is so far ahead of song's that I cant even see him so please dont insult arteta by ever saying that song is better than him at anything requiring talent.

Re the players out of position debate, I think that it is generally accepted that wenger has done that throughout his time at the club so it aint just arshavin that suffered. My own opinion is that it is just another way of wenger trying to show himself as being smarter than everybody else in that if changing a players position worked he would be hailed as a genius
