Opa Wim (RvP's grandfather)

Opa Wim (RvP's grandfather)

Post by Batflyer »

As we've all seen, Van Persie showed a t-shirt last Sunday to congratulate his grandfather Wim with his 91st birthday. Yesterday 'Opa Wim' appeared in a Dutch television show.

For those of you who understand a little Dutch, please see the link below. I'm not sure if these videos can be watched in other countries, but I hope so.

I wondered what that meant on Sunday. We all were laughing about Oprah Winfrey. Never knew she was that old!

I like this vid though. What a chap!

Also, is it weird I understood bits of their conversation even though I speak no Dutch at all!? (Although, I've heard that Frisian can be mutually intelligible with English if people speak slowly.)

Just out of interest. Would it have bothered his Grandad/anybody that some of the message on the t-shirt was written in English?

Seems like a wonderful person. Had a glint in his eye that was so proud watching the equaliser replay... quite touching.

I wonder if Adidas will be a little annoyed? It was a Nike brand undershirt, but sponsored players are only supposed to wear their manufacturer's equipment outside of the club's official kit. While it seems like a relatively minor gripe, I'm sure Adidas reps aren't pleased that he wasn't wearing ClimaCOOL or other Adidas wear.
