It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.
Alright lads, any housing/financial experts on here?
The reason I ask is that I received a of eviction letter on Monday from the local council, saying that I needed to find alternative accomadation before March 2nd 2012. My wife left me last year and i've turned to the bottle and unfortunately I haven't kept up payments on the mortgage.
And to make matters worse we drew with Bolton last night. I'm fucking fed up.
Depressed

If youve got a mortgage why are the council writing to you about eviction? Do you work? Not being intrusive just trying to get a better idea of your situation
I dont know if its gone beyond discussion but my brother worked for a bank and particularly mortgages at one point and said if you ever have probs paying a mortgage to discuss it with them and you'll find them fairly accomodating. Give it a go
Sorting your finances out is ultra important (not that I'm any good at it).
First off, don't spend money coming all the way down from Hull to London for a jumble sale.
Try to get off the booze. I mean really try. Alcoholism can ruin your life. Or actually take it away.
Go to Citizens Advice. See if they can suggest options for you.
You will need to talk to your mortgage provider at some point soon. Nobody wants to evict a mortgage holder. It's not good PR. You have a council mortgage. They may offer to convert your mortgage to a part rent/part mortgage arrangement. Or an interest only mortgage. Or increase the term of the mortgage. Any of these options would mean lower repayments.
Also consider taking in a lodger. The lodger effectively pays part of your mortgage for you.
Best of luck to you.
Edit......I just re-read your post. I missed the bit about the eviction order. Which means you need legal advice pretty damned quick.
I don't know much about this.....but it occurs to me that if the council carries through the eviction order then you will become a homeless person. As the council has a responsibility of providing accommodation for homeless people then you just might be able to reach some sort of compromise.
