I saw some stats the other day that seem to suggest he's one of the best at doing what he does. I think he's done very well, few mistakes but few moments of greatness as well. Take him out and see what happens.

Not sure what you mean there mate......what is it exactly that "he does" ? :? He certainly cannot tackle to save his life and he is frequently caught out of position and without doubt they are by far and away the 2 most important "skills" a DM must have. The fact that wenger has no better DM to replace him makes him the best option we have but DOES NOT MAKE HIM GOOD ENOUGH

Song has evolved into a "Jack of all trades: master of none".

He can tackle robustly, but at times is clumsy and gives away free kicks near the penalty area.

He certainly can supply top notch through balls, but too often at other times his passes go astray.

His positioning can be suspect.

His early years were as a defensive midfielder who filled in occasionally in central defence.
Nowadays he is an all round midfielder.

I am very happy to have him in the squad, largely because of his versatility, his through balls, and he is seldom injured for more than a couple of games.

I do think though that if Coquelin and The Ox continue developing at the rate they have done this season, and that if Wilshere returns from serious injury without major problems, then Song's "automatic" starting place is under threat next season.

I think Coquelin should be given a go I really like this guy and he shows great work ethic. I used to really like Song but I think he is getting worse he tackling I don't think is as bad as alot make out but his passing sure is, especially alot of the time he wil pick the ball up with loads of space and then just pass straight to there player with no pressure. Him and Arteta (can only pass side wards) don't mix.

Totally average player. Not good enough for Arsenal.

I cannot believe anyone honestly thinks Song is good enough for any role in a team with serious ambitions at the top level. Sorry, no. He is poor mostly and every now and then he raises his game to average.

Once in a while (and it is no more than that) Song picks out an absolutely wonderful pass for RVP. He’s done it a couple of times this season. But for me it’s nowhere near enough for him to be first choice DM. One killer ball every three or four games doesn’t negate all the lost possession, silly mistakes, unnecessary free kicks conceded, or colossal amount of misplaced passes that make up the rest of his game. Not to mention the fact that he gives his defence zero protection, far too often getting caught standing square-on up at the half way line as oppo strikers and midfielders stream past him. Even a broken clock is right twice a day, but it is still broken and damn all use the rest of the time!

Song would look good in the Championship or Italy where the technical level and the pace of the game (respectively) wouldn't show up his many weaknesses so often.

Agree 100% with Flash; Song will stop us winning anything major. We need better than average in the DM role to push for honours.
