To be fair, and im not trying to cause problems in anyway, but a simple answer as to the exact reason the forum was shut would clarify a lot of things. While a reason isnt give, of course questions and doubts will be raised.

To be fair Bren I think it has been made pretty clear, Mike has admitted that due to time constraints and the sheer amount of man-hours that maintaining/protecting the forum required he had not been able to give it the time it needed and it had for want of a better term become disfunctional due to technical issues and the increasing level of abuse which had brought things to a head!
It was obvious people were exploiting the forum's lax guidelines to just log on and constantly vent their spleens, some even registered just to do that, calling the manager and the players c**nts which is maybe ok in the heat of the moment once or twice on the terrace or in front of your telly in the privacy of your own home but to have AW is a **** in your signature is the sort of thing that made the place very unappealing and very very depressing, and does us as Arsenal supporters no favours whatsoever to say the least!
I love a good debate (and I've had my fair share) especially when it got a bit tasty and the popcorn icon would come out, but only if it was articulated between intelligent posters who made the effort to be constructive rather than destructive otherwise it just deteriorated into another extremely tedious slanging match and just for the record I also hope the current no swearing rule is looked at again, with a view to changing it to alongside adopting the yellow/red card warning system another matchday rule in that you can say for ffs ref and you might even get away with the odd casual f off but you can't scream abuse at him repeatedly tellin him to do one and calling him a **** !
That's just my two cents as I think the the other mods particularly TS and Flash spoke well on the subject except just to say that don't forget this place is free only at the point of use and so must be a right pain in the Arse to administrate I know I wouldn't/couldn't do it and maybe the fact that the forum was down for over a month and it's now somewhat hopefully temporarily over-civilized make-up will serve as a snapshot of what things could come to and it'll deter numpties, mentalists or intelligent but otherwise lazy people from abusing the freedom that we had and I'm sure will have again once everything settles so that we can get back to where we were in the good old days especially if it coincides with an upturn in the team's performances which looks on the cards!

I went a bit over the top on Friday when I first saw the new format.

However, I still firmly believe that the one element that mdae the forum such a success has been taken away.

Like I said before M-50 got all high and mighty and removed my posts, there ate literally 1000's of forums like this and they are sterile, joyless places with little or no users.

I understand why people are suggesting that the great and the good of The Gooner have sold out.

Changing the forum name is the biggest sign that the powers that be want to disassociate the forum from the comic they produce while still having the 'kudos' of running an internet forum.

All high and mighty eh? I edited your post initially, without a warning (which anyone else would have implemented) and mentioned to tone it down in future posts (following the rules Mike set out).

You didn't like that and took it upon yourself to abuse me on the forum (several times) and via PM then you got the cheek when you return to write the above.
