Having witnessed a tragic accident in a football match, it sent a chill down my spine when I heard the news.
Really hope the boy makes it through, thoughts and prayers with Fab and his family.

Have to say it was a fantastic gesture from Real Madrid to wear those shirts in support of Muamba and Abidal.

Just out of curiousity where does everybody stand on the calling off of bolton games and the possible withdrawal of bolton from fa cup ? We all want the guy to make a full recovery but it is possible he could be in the same state at the weekend or into next week so how long can their season be put on hold ? Obviously if something definitive happened either way then it would be easier to reach a permanent decision but for me calling off games as things currently stand sends a message that they are expecting the worst at any moment.

Anyway I dont want to appear insensitive or anything but I cant help feeling that any talk of calling off next weekends game v blackburn or pulling out of the cup is premature

Statement from hospital this afternoon, saying he is showing small signs of improvement. I would expect the club to resume their fixtures this weekend unless something bad happens between now and then.

Part of me thinks that Muamba would want them to play the cup game, try to knock spurs out & go as far as they can. No?

That would be my line of thinking too - I know that the players would have been in a state of absolute shock for the last 36 hours or so but if there is no real change over the next few days then wouldnt it be better to get them back playing again ? No matter how long they leave it before they play again it will be very much in the front of their minds when the game starts so that will always be a tough time for them even if muamba pulls through

I hear what you're saying, Augie. Win it for Muamba, and all that. However, to resume the FA Cup, they'd first have to go back to White Hart Lane, the scene of the incident. And given that hardly any time has passed since one of their mates had a heart attack on that very pitch, I can't blame them for not wanting to play there - thus, having to forfeit the cup.

The interview with Kevin Davies pretty much summed it up for me. He said that, right now, while Muamba is still in the ICU, football is utterly irrelevant. I can totally get where he is coming from there. It might not be that they necessarily want these games called off - I'd guess it's more a case of that they couldn't care less about playing football right now.

Some great news at last. The lad is speaking & thats a huge achievement so far. The longterm will be known later but for now, glory be to God & I hope he makes a full recovery. Had the privildge to meet him in Birmingham a few years ago & got an Arsenal Muamba 44 shirt off him. I'm praying that he makes a full recovery.

Fantastic news.

The man was medically dead for 2 hours. It's absolutely INCREDIBLE!

I hope not, they should stay in and try and win it for him - spookily enough Man Utd after the Munich disaster continued to play the rest of the season and also got to the cup final but lost to Bolton

Absolutely amazing news - am almost as stunned now with his improvement to date as I was when the incident first happened cos it really didnt look good for the guy. Imagine the lift this news will have given his team-mates - I know it will have given a bigger lift to his family but for the players the memory of what happened would have haunted them forever if they had of been on the pitch when a player had died cos it is something that nobody expects that sort of thing to happen to a 23yr old professional sportsman

Continued best wishes mate :barscarf:

Not strictly true. It took them 2 hours to get his heart beating unassisted but from what I understand his heart had "only" fully stopped for a 7 minue stretch. Still incredible mind

My (albeit amateur) understanding is that someone is medically dead when there is no more activity in the brain, not when the heart has stopped beating. Or is that legally dead? Oh, who cares? The lad is neither! Absolutely brilliant news!
