David Rocastle Day

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Rocky was one of those players who tore teams apart on his day by running at them beating them all and scoring a blinder. I get annoyed at some Gooners who seem to belittle the Graham days but bloody proud we always remember Rocky which means he is very much alive.

I wish I was going.

But £50 is taking the ****.

Didn't utd fans once boycott the food stand inside the ground in way of protest, that would be a good way, still get to see the game but also hit the club's pockets. May make them think.

Not sure how you would get everyone to do this though  .

Well my QPR upper tier is £55 but for that I'm expecting to get a half time b-j.

Last time I went there, I didn't see much of the game, it was so shit standing in that cramped stand behind the goal.

I'll be shouting for Rocky, though.

They haven't "got us by the balls" really have they? We're just spineless in England. If anything, with a bit of organisation, the fans could have the clubs by the balls...

At the end of the 89-90 season we played out last home game and the players did a lap of honour, i managed to sneak into the family enclosure from the clock end and got right to the front as the players came round (probably barging children out of the way  :) ) and as the players came round only Rocky came over and he shook my hand.... Never forget that moment loved him before and definately loved him after......

R.I.P. to a true Arsenal legend

Don't mind admitting I sat down and cried when I heard Rocky had passed away. It just hit me so hard. I couldn't believe it, he was so full of life and living and I just assumed he'd beat his illness.

I was gutted when we sold him. As was he; he cried when GG told him his time as a Gunner was over. Name one modern player that would give a flying f*ck if we sold them? Once they were getting decent money they wouldn't care less and that is the main difference between legends like Rocky and pieces of mercenary crap like Cashley A-hole and LesbianHead.

Rocky is a Gooner legend taken long before his time. :(

Cheers Sammy. More for the young 'uns really, but always good to remember Rocky.

IMO he was had a lot of Viera, some of Adams and a touch of Bergkamp about his game.

Great video that, even if I'll admit to shedding a tear still when I see Wrighty getting choked up talking about him. Brought back a lot of happy memories for me. I'd just got a season ticket, aged 17, when we were winning the title that season in 1989 and Rocky was a big hero for me in that team. That goal when he dribbled round several MIddlesbrough players and smashed it in off the post.....I can recall it like it was yesterday, sat in the West Stand lower with my old man. I can remember trying to emulate that to no avail for my Sunday team week in, week out :D

33 years old - taken from us far, far too soon. His memory should be cherished by all Gooners forever
