Ryo has still got to prove it though.
Walcott already has at Premier League, Champions League and International level.

yes Dempsey is not bad but Piennar? How can you seriously compare him with Walcott!! Wum alert
I think Walcott is massively underpaid and worthy of £100k per week don't you Red ? :D

considering Walcott is probably our 2nd most important player then yes £100,000 per week seems fair enough.
keeping hold of him is just as important as keeping hold of RVP.

sorry but to say he has proved it at international level is frankly just plain wrong. he has been abysmal and can only hark back to the croatia hat-trick.

this season he has been poor in the PL and in the CL even worse. and the sooner we get £25million the better.

you can try and big him up all you want but his lac of football technique or nous is plain for everyone to see.
there really are some unbelievable posters on here.
name a more effective midfield player in the Premier League in the past couple of months. You will be struggling.
valencia, ashley cole, scott sinclair, leon britton, wayne routlidge, park, TR7, the ox

We're getting enough material for "Red's greatest quote Mk II" just today alone. Heaven forbid if Chesney makes a cock-up at Loftus Road :D :D

sorry thats just not true. when exactly has he been unplayable?
I reckon it is true that he can be unplayable.
It is all the more the main reason why some fans are frustrated with him, because he has been inconsistent.

When Walcott is in form he is the last thing the opposing full back wants to face.
Unplayable?
Goals versus Barcelona, Chelsea, Spurs, Birmingham, Croatia etc spring to mind.
Hardly anyone can catch him, and he hits the ball low and across the keeper to score.

As a team we have to make sure we play to Walcott's strengths, and we will get good use out of him.

I understand criticisms of his demeanour in terms of his bust up with Jenkinson, it looks as if this season there have been times when he has really felt the pressure.
But when he plays poorly, he never goes missing.
He always tries hard, I have never had a reason to fault his effort, it is just that there are games where things go wrong for him.

I can understand that people think Walcott is inconsistent but over the past 2 months he has produced good performances most games.

I do think that in time the OX can be better than him but that remains to be seen.
Walcott is the here and now and he IS producing. the african with the hair problem IS not

The one word to sum up Walcott to date is 'Frustrating' not World Class. For every Henryesque type moment or clinical finish like Saturday's, we've got multiple poor decision choice or empty promise of a cross. For a few years now we've awaited a consistency level that equated to the early hype but sadly drifts aimlessly away like his said crossing. At what point is he going to become a player we can rely on a regular basis? Will it take a major bollocking from the stands every time he's not at the races . Maybe that's partly the problem, like a lot of our easy street performers who are cotton wooled from the real world and need a good bawling at, they need a mentor who will put things straight to them . Will we still be replying to similar Theo threads on this forum in 5 years time with the Jury still out on the speed merchant or will we worshiping as is more recently, the ' footballing' speed merchant. Let's face it , to date the guy has not delivered on a regular enough basis. For me, there's a huge buzz being at a game when he is on form and he gets the ball and you know he is going to eat the full back but unfortunately a lot of those games you know he's going to run down a blind alley. For a team that in it's Wenger pomp moved the ball at tremendous speed to the general pedestrian type game (excluding day's like Barca home etc and maybe current form where our tempo has moved up a notch)of the last few years where we were almost dependent on Walcott to bring rapier like movement that never really happened. However with the OX and Ryio breathing down his neck hopefully this can focus the lad and get regular performances out of him that genuinely will have Messi worried and Premiership defenses s******g themselves every week. Kudos's to his
recent performances but his Full term report for me this season will be ' Must try harder'

I have had a look at his recent league record

v Blackburn 3 assists
v Sunderland - pitch was too bumpy
v Spurs 2 goals
v Liverpool - did ok
v Newcastle 1 assist
v Everton - ok he doesnt like Merseyside
v Aston Villa - 1 goal

seems he produces every other game at the moment which is good but maybe not world class so fair enough.
if he continues to produce every other game though like he has been doing I will settle for that!

i'm sorry but the games you mention mask his faults. against chelski he was poor and fell over for his goal, against the y**s he was atrocious and should have been subbed at half-time, against birmingham he had two chances, he was poor before them and poor after them and can we please put the croaitia game to bed as he has never done anything in an england since.
