Bendtner; The Leg-end

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

McDowell I know you admire his work.....on the old thread in Cannonballs I've listed at least four from the last week alone that are worthy of special mention. Today's favourite

"We can not get rid of Djourou - he is an excellent back-up CB".......which prompted a suitably angered response from Augie :D

I'm still learning from the master..... :barscarf:

I have to say i am an admirer and i have to chuckle to myself when i see so many other posters actually replying or trying to argue the point with him to hi s posts and some of these guys i would say are very good posters, but it seems like hes a red rag to them

Will O' Neil be willing to sign him on a permanent deal at the end of the season?
Sending him out on loan again next season doesnt suit us, either he gets sold and accepts a pay cut or let him be back up for RVP and/or Pod.

I'm surprised too, because you seemed to react more to the comments about Djourou rather than the "I hate Chesney - he is an arrogant moron. We should consider bringing back Almunia"

I thought that would have pressed the buttons more mate !

In fairness I have been able to remain relatively calm so far, but I'm waiting for Red to declare his love for Vela and how he would be delighted to see him back next year !

It's not the djouru comments that riled me at all steve o but the constant stream of drivel aimed at getting a reaction - it would always have pished me off tbh but in the bright new modern Gooner 2 Gooner world wumming was supposed to be a no-no but what the hey right ? :?

augie i think there is a friend/foe part in your friend profile settings. I havent used it but from my understanding if you put red member as a foe you will never see his posts..... Im not sure it works if someone quotes him but might be worth a go

He's had well more than 3 good games. For example, he was class away at Newcastle, held the ball up well, scored an ice cool penalty- he ran himself into the ground and had to come off as he was just back from injury and as soon as Campbell replaced him we couldnt maintain possession and they equalised.

Then he was class against Liverpool, leading the line well, giving them all sorts of trouble and being much quicker to react than their centre backs to win us the game

Then there was Man City away- great touch, awareness, vision, a class header and assist with a pass that it would have been easy to get wrong.

Theres 3 very good games and they were all just in March- plus he had a very good game away to Everton last month as well. Over the course of the season hes had loads of good games- he's not scored all that many (getting a few now like) but he's either lined up or been heavily involved in most of our good play throughout the season. He's had his off days of course (who doesnt?) and he isnt as good as Sessegnon (who is?), but the vast majority of the time he has played an important role in linking our play together and maintaining possession, we just need a proper "number 9" style centre forward to play in front of him and he will flourish.

We certainly wont be loaning him again I wouldnt have thought- with Gyan probably off we need 2 strikers to come in and it makes no sense to have another temporary solution. I've heard £5m being banded around for Bendtner and that is an utter steal tbh, his wages may be an issue, and he might want to play abroad to get in the CL (although his son is settled in England and he is meant to be keen to stay near him) but I am pretty certain that O'Neill would love to add him to the squad for next season. There are clubs much higher in the league with much worse strikers (as mentioned, he's better than Park and Chamakh for starters, and for me he's better than Welbeck and Macheda etc). A club like us would be mental not to sign someone of his calibre and tbh you'd be daft letting him go for anything like £5m unless you need the money to bring in another 2 top class strikers- no point letting him go and playing Chamakh thats for certain

PS god, a sober post about Bendtner!!!

Yep, he had a kid with her and they split up
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/ar ... dorff.html

That means the kid still lives in London and so Bendy, being an obvious candidate for father of the decade, isnt too keen on moving away as he likes to see him when he can (awwwwww). You see, Bendy's an all round top bloke as well as being a supreme standard footballer.
