Arsenal top league goal scorers so far:

RVP 26
Walcott 7
Arteta 6
Vermaelen 5
Gervinho 4

Arsenal top league assists so far:

RVP 11
Walcott 10
Song 10
Gervinho 6
Ramsey 6

Premier League top assists so far:

Silva 14
Valencia 13
Mata 12
Adebayor 12
Bale 11
Adam 11
Sessegnon 11
RVP 11
Walcott 10

I find it incredible that the player who is our second top goal scorer and our joint second assist provider comes in for so much stick. Granted Walcott can improve (as can any player) in his finishing, final ball and consistancy. But he is only 23... Only eight players in the entire top flight have more assists than him!

How many other 23 year old are regular performers in the Premiership, Champions League and international matches? He is also English which I feel is a huge plus for the club.

I have read people posting "He's not good enough for Arsenal" - well who do you propose would be a better and realistic replacement?

It's been great for me that since the recent rapid improvement of The Ox that Walcott's form has also really improved - that tells me that he is up for the fight to keep his place in the team.

good comments Hugh.

Walcott is clearly our 2nd most important player as these stats suggest.
why then on the poll to select our 2nd MVP am I the only person to have selected him? :?

because other people rate others ahead of him.... Stats dont tell the whole story knobby for example how many assists has Chesney or Koscielny got this season? because its around zero doesnt mean they have had a shit season. Use your brain to make a choice dont rely on stats

Another one to bite on the bait..... :D

We all know that the top 3 are - RvP, Walcott and Song.....with Djourou and Almunia completing the top 5 :D

i worked out he was our 2nd best player before these stats were produced.

how can anyone pick Chesney and Koscielny this season? no they dont provide assists their job is to stop goals going in.
They have FAILED to do this. We have already conceeded over 40 PL goals this season. not good enough.

meanwhile at the other end Walcott has contributed to the goals scored which could well beat the 73 goals we scored during the Invincibles season.

Arteta in the top three for me this season.

Red - lets assume that next season we have a fully fit midfield (I know thats a hilarious concept but forgive me) and all players back from loan. I would like to know your starting three in central midfield plus first choice back-up from:

Song, Wilshere, Arteta, Diaby, Rosicky, Denilson, Ramsey, Frimpong, Coquelin

Same 3 we use now (Rosicky, Song and Arteta) but hopefully gradually reintroduce Wilshere to replace Rosicky if he comes back as good as he was before.

I will also hope to see the OX start more games. Imagine an attacking english force of Wilshere, Walcott and the OX supplying balls to RVP and Prince Poldi. Unbeatable ! :D

We would have had the third best defensive record in the league if we didnt conceed the 8 against United.

So basically "one of your favourite midfielders", that it will be "great to have back" i.e. Denilson.....by your own admission does not even warrant a place in the top 5 central midfielders at the club ?

On what basis is it 'great to have him back' - as 6th choice ??

I'm not even going to bite on the gradual reintroduction of Wilshere......but others might :D

obviously if Denilson was to return he would be first choice in midfield instead of Arteta but the reports in the last week seem to suggest he is happy in Brazil for now. makes sense, he will want to try and get into the Brazil side for the World Cup and he can give himself 2 years to acclimatise if he stays there.
