Arsenal fans banned from the Emirates Stadium and all football after refusing to sit down
Two Arsenal fan brothers will not be visiting the Emirates Stadium any time soon after they were banned in the courts after refusing to sit down.
Colin HoganHot-tempered Gooners James and Colin Hoggan have been barred from all football matches for a total of eight years after matters spiralled out of control during the Arsenal versus Manchester United match on January 22.
The pair got hauled out of the ground after getting angry and causing a rumpus when stewards told them they couldn’t keep standing.
Police had to jump in to restrain them and James tried to headbutt an officer while resisting arrest.
Pc Lucy McAuley, of Islington Police’s football intelligence unit, said: “It started off very minor. A steward had to have a word with them for standing up and they reacted very badly and became abusive.
“In the bar area, James became very aggressive towards a police officer and tried to headbutt him. He had to be restrained by several officers.
“It didn’t have to happen, it was as simple as persistent standing. They did not take kindly to being told to sit and it spiralled into something from there. They have no one to blame but themselves.”
James, 34, of Thirlmere Gardens, Middlesex, was banned from all football matches for five years after being found guilty of two public order offences at Highbury Corner Magistrates Court on March 19, for abusive behaviour and causing fear of violence. He was told to pay out a total of £665 in fines and other charges.
Brother Colin, 33, also of Thirlmere Gardens, was found guilty on one count of abusive behaviour. He was barred from attending football games for three years and handed a bill of £465.
Pc McAuley added: “The football ban should send a clear message that police will not tolerate disruptive behaviour, before, during or after any matches.”

In fairness kicking off with the OB and trying to headbutt one of them probably didn't help. Although you can never tell how much the police fabricate in these instances to help their case. It also pisses me off the way stewards play the big man picking on people standing on their own (even when I was stood against a wall you *word censored*) or in 2s. Any more then that and the stewards are nowhere to be seen.

Funny, if they had come in late, got up half-way through the first half, come back, got up for something again, left the seats early again before half-time, come back late, left to go downstairs again a little bit into the second half, come back, got up again to leave early everything would have been fine...

Maybe im a bit naive but there is something in that report that makes me think headbutting a policeman is why they were banned

So the stewards told them to sit down but they refused, then
Why did it continue on in the bar area? I wasn't there so I don't know what happened, were they approached by the cops on the direction of the stewards? If so, why?In the bar area, James became very aggressive towards a police officer and tried to headbutt him. He had to be restrained by several officers

Very true. Your forehead will hurt like fcuk, unless you're Gervinho, then you'll probably have taken the eye out of the coppers head with that pointy bit he has.flash gunner wrote:oh i agree mate its over the top stewarding and as you said we dont know the full story but there will only be one outcome of you try to headbutt a policeman

Causing a rumpus, were there? Don't want these sort of chaps at the footie now do we? As far as I'm concerned, they deserve all they get for having the bloody nerve to disturb my chums and I. Damn nearly put me off my G&T and quiche.
Re: Sit Down, Shut Up!
This shit can be so easily avoided by giving us safe standing. What will it take to convince them? It's so fucking frustrating...

Sound like two assholes to me.

Re: Sit Down, Shut Up!
I'm normally right in favour of those who wish to stand but, much though i hate it, currently the ground regulations state you have to sit down. I don't bother doing it like where possible but everyone knows the score- if people behind you keep moaning on you either have to sit, or go to the back of the stand to stand up. If people behind arent moaning then stand up, steward comes and says "sit down lads" so you do and as soon as hes gone you get back up. If you get a real arsehole of a steward you might just have to sit down which is a pain but theres nowt that can be done- if theres a large group of you standing its easier to get away with like. What you dont do is go losing your temper and trying to headbutt a copper, absolutely stupid thing to do and a banning order was always going to follow.
Re: Sit Down, Shut Up!
the geezers were out of order. the stewards rule that souless bowl and they say you should sit down thats what you must do. personally i stopped going years ago as the stewards and other things put me off the place. better watching it in the boozer with fellow pals to be honest. and you can have a bevvy at the same time.
