WALCOTT - which position is best etc?

Re: Walcott's PR Team

Post by QuartzGooner »

The Ox has played some lovely football this season, and he is more solidly built than Walcott. Not quite as fast, but still a fast player.

But The Ox has not yet reached maturity and consistency; he was fairly quite against Newcastle.

I hope we do sign Podolski; but also keep The Ox and Walcott. It gives us a variety of options, mixing pace, skill, strength and (hopefully) goalscoring.
If the good stuff that Gervinho has done is repeated and improved on, that will give us a tricky creative option too, who can play anywhere across the three attacking midfield places.

But I think the jury is still out on Gervinho's consistency.

I would be interested to see if we get Hoillet; he has got pace and can cut inside quite well, though no idea if we would bid for him or if he would settle in a big club.

are you suggesting that we have a chance of acquiring these players (ignoring the fact that ashley cole's a defender and bale's predominately a left winger)

A truly bizarre selection of players to improve on right-wing Walcott! Are you for real?

Cole - a left-back for one of our biggest rivals who walked out on Arsenal due to a wage dispute and Bale - a left midfielder who plays for our biggest rivals. Both wrong positions and never gonna happen.

Valencia seems to be quite consistent with good work rate and delivery but would Man Utd sell to us? No chance. Is he better than Theo? I don't think so.

Dyer and Sinclair have had decent debut top flight seasons and show plenty of promise but that's all. Better than Walcott?! No way.

Ben Arfa has showed glimpses of brilliance but again I would not see him as an improvement on Walcott.

I'm still waiting to hear those of you slagging Walcott off to suggest names of players that would be an improvement on him and realistic targets.

Just seen this earlier post offered as possible replacements - Leon Britton and Wayne Routledge????

TR7 doesn't play right-wing and The Ox, although has incredible potential is not yet on Theo's level.

Leon Britton and Wayne Routledge

While we are at it we could also have Norman Lamont and Michael Heseltine.

Ok, it is not THAT Leon Britton but the point remains it is not as easy as it sounds to find a replacement for Walcott.

Arsene Wenger says he now expects Theo Walcott to reach double-figures in goals every season http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archiv ... lcott-now- #Arsenal

I disagree even at 17 and in his first full season in the premiership The Ox is a better all round player than Walcott. Its taken Walcott 6 years to reach his level now

Like it, we should go for Geoffrey Howe, Douglas Hurd and Ted Heath too, all very right-wing.

Whether Ashley Young is better than Walcott is open to debate. But would he leave United to join us? No. Would United even sell him to us? No.

So still no realistic replacement for Walcott offered by those who say he's not good enough.

Look fella, nobody wants a championship manager showdown with you. Its not our job to scout players, i don't watch a whole bunch of European football but I'd be very surprised if there weren't some decent wide men knocking about who can actually control a football.

Can I just say yet again that walnut is absolute s**t - the :censored: doesn't know where to run half the time and we seen yesterday that when he is up against an equally fast opponent he is afraid to take him on and has fcuk all else to offer. If wenger is gonna be here for another 2 yrs and if wenger is gonna stand loyally behind walnut no matter how crap he plays then we will see yet another promising young player (ox) stagnate and fail to reach his potential under guru wenger :x 6 fcuking mins is all he got and we had to endure 84mins of s**t from walnut who should have been subbed ahead of yossi FFS :banghead: :banghead:

If this :censored: gets a new improved contract then somebody should burn the stadium to the ground
