Your best holiday/s

It's all a load of Cannonballs in here! This is the virtual Arsenal pub where you can chat about anything except football. Be warned though, like any pub, the content may not always be suitable for everyone.

Your best holiday/s

Post by olgitgooner »

We've all had great, and not so great holidays, the one that sticks out in my mind is Corfu.

I hired a villa for two weeks. Arrangements got messed up. I ended up going with my wife and two other females.

This is a recipe for disaster. Nobody to talk to about football, cars, etc. I was dreading it.

When we arrived in Corfu the local Greek macho men made the ridiculous assumption that I was servicing all three of them. I was treated as a hero. Needless to say, I played along with this for a while :D

Great holiday.

What was your best/worst/most memorable holiday?

Definitely Peru in 2010.

Walked the Inca trail, visited Machu Picchu (a place I'd wanted to see since I was a kid) and spent a week in the Amazon jungle.

Throw in a spot of romance with a local girl, and it was a pretty perfect holiday.

(I even caught a piranha - and not an std! :barscarf: )

Great holiday 8)

Nice one.

cant pin point one brilliant or bad holiday they have all been great in their own way. I went to Rome for a long weekend with my wife who was my girfriend at the time and have to say its my fave city in the world, also went to Vegas with a group for my mates 30th a few years ago before i had children and had a great time. Had lads holidays in Tenerife, Majorca and Ibiza many many years ago having loads of fun with over there   ....Last summer i went to the Isle of Wight with my daughters to a caravan park with crappy evening entertainment but the girls loved it and to see them happy made it another great holiday.

Cant wait for the summer and holidays i hate the cold weather

New York 1996.

Met DJ Premier in D+D studios. For a Hip Hop man, that is a priceless moment.

Corfu mid 80s, seemed to score everynight on the first week, one really dirty bitch from Sheffield still stirs my loins. Spent second week with a girl from Benfleet in Essex and saw her a few times after I got back.
Family holidays now though are always special, already looking forward to this summer.

I haven't really done a proper "holiday" as such for about 10 years really. I tend to do lots of shorter trips for 2/3/4 days or so at a time & try to tie them in with trips to footy games or stadiums that i've always wanted to see.

That said, I do fucking love New York. Particularly enjoyed a trip there two years ago which I did on quite a tight budget. Stayed in a little hostel in Brooklyn which was basically someone's (quite swanky) apartment. It was like being back at uni. There was only 4 blokes and about 15 girls there from all over; Sweden, Canada, Italy, Brazil etc. Hung out with one stunning blonde German girl and another from Chicago who was a Burlesque dancer (that's a posh stripper don't ya know  ) for the best part of a week seeing the sights, drinking beer and generally having a laugh. Good times.

As Dan says, New York is class.

For me though it's got to be, as a South African, going back for the World Cup. The sense of everyone pulling together to get something done was actually really touching, considering the country's history, and the whole event went off fantastically well. An especially nice touch was having four generations of my family go to one of the games together, the looks on the older relatives' faces at what the new SA could achieve was amazing. :D

Also a nice ten days or so chilling in Cape Town after with local mates and local girls. Can't beat it.

2001 - Nile cruise. Tried to explain this trip to some Chavski fans, but they just don't get the concept of history.

2002 - Prague. Tasty cheap beer and loads to see, best city break by a mile.

2008 - Grenada. Got a return flight for £220 from XL, no wonder they went bust. Virtually giving away flights to the Caribbean and sponsoring West Ham is a recipe for disaster. Fantastic Island.
