Even if they finish above us, which is entirely possible this season, it doesn't erase the last 25 years does it, during which time they have won the league cup twice I believe and the FA cup back in 91, while we have won 5 league titles, 2 doubles, 5 FA cups and been to a champions league final.

They also have the small matter of Chelsea, Man City and Man Utd to overcome beforw being able to crow about achieving anything of note.

It's been mentioned by others and it's so true, isn't it: Their best team in decades is currently 2 points below one of our weakest squads under Wenger AND the worst start to a season in 50+ years.

Even if they can hold onto VDV and Ade, the former is aging quickly and injury prone, while the latter is a mercenary whose work ethic fades away after his big-money signing every time. They are going to have to line Bale's pockets with gold to get him to stay there - which they likely will, and then talk about what a big club they are - but it's going to stifle their ability to buy suitable replacements. They have very little youth set up and when 'Arry goes, they're going to lose some players - likely including Modric, who is probably their most influential player pound-for-pound.

So let them gloat about being close to us for once. It's a flash in the pan. Even if they finish above us, it means so little in the big picture (both past and future considered) that we might as well let them have their little small club parade.
