So what exactly is wrong with what he said? :? I haven't listened to the podcast so I'm assuming those quotes are correct, if they are then I can't see what the fuss is all about.
like Alan Davies you probably need further educating then about this.
first of all why say anything? The fact that the match isnt going to be played on the 15th demonstrates how sensitive the issue still is.
secondly the group Justice for the 96 still havent had justice - that is why this is still an issue

the fact that Alan Davies calls himself an Arsenal supporter disgusts me

to be fair when red member calls himself an arsenal supporter it disgusts me, just like those so called arsenal supporters on redcafe laying into alan davies about the podcast. you shouldn't judge this on your preconceptions about him. Fact is it is an Arsenal podcast, for arsenal fans, an the podcast was already someway through before he even mentioned it and when he did he was very respectful and brought up valid point for why they could play on the 15th. If you don't like it then who cares?
Some people just like jumping on the grief junkie train, as if he disrespected the victims or something. he shouln't be made to aplogise for comments made on a fucking ARSENAL podcast ffs, all those scousers moaning about it because they read it in some shitty rag should know better not to expect a decent article written in correct context from the media after the stick they give any media publication that dares questions kenny dalglish. He's actually been getting death threats from those twats over twitter for this, just becuase some media hack that decided he dosn't like Davis that he's going to make a mountain out of a molehill. In I saw some of them on RAWK bring up the death of his daughter and try to use that against him. Utterly dispicable, not only that but an incident outside a nightclub when he got drunk, bit an homeless person on the ear  was used as a reason for why he is so horrible. Maybe we should remind them that their hero Luis Suarez bit the ear of an opposition player in a match when he was at Ajax- and I don't think he was drunk when he did it either.
That said Alan Davies should know to be VERY sensitive about mentioning hillsbrough- the liverpool support aren't exactly the most thick-skinned of supporters and when they get angry they aren't scared of going on boycotts- taking to making petitions or handing out death threats on twitter. You'd think they were a bit more thoughtful after some of their drunken support were guilty of violence that was responsible for killing 36 people at Heysel. :rubchin:

I've got to say I agree with what he said and dont see why LFC should not play on the 15/4. I understand the view that many people would want to commemorate the day and personally I cannot see a more fitting way than for the two merseyside clubs (lets not forget many everton supporters would have had close relations to those who died) to honour those that lost their lives on that tragic day by playing another FA Cup Semi Final. The opportunity is there for Liverpool FC to remind a worldwide audience of their cause (the so called "Justice" they seek) why not use this opportunity.

I would imagine the FA would also make sure some sort of memorial is held before the game as i am sure they will before the saturday when talk is going to be about what happened 23 years ago anyway so as emotions are going to be fresh why not play the game on the Sunday regardless?

Pure and simply its the victims mentallity coming out again and I am afraid it will do for more than another 23 years down the line.

Refusing to play a game on that date 23 years after that tragic event is, to put it mildly, a load of b****x - regardless of who was at fault for those events, the fact remains that other clubs have had tragedies and have had to move on so why shouldnt these whinging c***s be held to the same standard ? If they want to mark the anniversity in some way then that is fair enough but they should not be allowed to hold football and the rest of the clubs to ransom for fear of upsetting the families

Have you seen some of the abuse he's been getting on Twitter? It's unbelievable.

Yeah, he probably got a bit carried away, but that's how he is on the podcast. He made a point of being respectful and pointing out firstly how great of a tragedy it was and, secondly, how he supports the campaign for justice for the 96. In between that, he expressed an opinion. That's all. He didn't mock anyone, nor did he abuse anyone (except Dalglish - and I've no problem with that).

it's just another case of people enjoying having something to be outraged about. Something to complain about. People love complaining. This is probably just a storm in a teacup that will blow over once he's done his gig in Liverpool. The thing that I worry about is the future of The Tuesday Club podcast. Given the abuse he's been getting on Twitter, I wouldn't blame him for not bothering with the podcast (seeing as it is essentially a hobby to him) in future - although hopefully he will.

I think what we are seeing here is the scousers once again using someone else to vent there anger on, rather than those who were truly responsible ie themselves. Until they finally face up to the truth, they will be forever in denial, looking for someone to blame and unable to move on.
As for their refusal to play on a certain date, who in under fuck do they think they are? The fa should make them play or forfeit the game.
What would happen if the 14th of April fell on a Saturday and they were due to play let's say for the sake of arguemnt Utd, and the pool had a clge game on the wednesday prior to the 14th and Utd had a clge on the following Tuesday.
Putting the game back to the Sunday would mean utd having to play 2 days before the clge game, which they would never agree to, the alternative would then be to bring the game forward to the Friday thus putting the mousers in the same position, which I doubt they would want to do.
Would they then expect uefa and their clge opponents to agree to a change of date?

The bindippers have always used Hillsborough as a way of deflecting attention away from Heysel. The collective guilt and shame they felt after their fans caused the deaths at Heysel was in their minds exorcised by Hillsborough and meant that they could have something to use as a defense mechanism. What happened at Hillsborough was horrific and should never have happened, however, it amazes me that Hillsborough is brought up so many times when Heysel is never mentioned. It took them 20 years to publicly acknowledge the events and only because they drew Juventus in Europe that year and seemed to think that a card display was sufficient to placate angry Italians. The same fans who claim that April 15th is too sensitive to play football matches on, seem to forget all about Heysel and that's not even mentioning their 'fans' taunts about Munich to Man. Utd supporters.

Perhaps
Bolton Wanderers should not play on the 9th March
Rangers should not play on 2nd Jan
Bradford should not play on the 11th May
Juventus & Lpoo should not play on the 29th May

As has been said before you would of thought playing against Everton would of been a fitting tribute 23 years on a game fit to break the rule and help get the l'poo fans and club back to playing on that date.
It seems to me that l'poo are just using it as a date to show how they are the victims in what happend instead of using it as a memorial. To me it looks like the l'poo fans are using it to blame the whole of football the police and the media for what happend and doing things like this is just trying to empisize the point but what they are doing is driving fans away from the cause.

Alan Davies has IMO only said what a lot of people have been thinking for a while now. Yes it was a terrable thing that happend that day but a club 23 years later dictating to the FA when they can and can not play is not right.

A very good article liked this reply-

Absolutely superb article and 100% spot-on. The headline sums it up perfectly:

"...a thought crime against the post-Hillsborough cult of emotional correctness."

Liverpool fans have effecitively silenced freedom of speech when it comes to Heysel and Hillsborough. Unless you trot out the "acceptable" lines, you're met with ferocious personal abuse. Or if you're unlucky enough to have public profile, as in the unfortunate case of Alan Davies, you'll get a few death threats too.

Liverpool football club and its fans are now effectively a collective of bullies who have silenced, through a combination of emotional blackmail and intimidation, any opinion on Heysel and Hillsborough which doesn't agree with theirs. It's absolutely disgusting that they've been allowed to get away with this behaviour for so long.

Indeed, everything Alan Davies said is correct. As shocking and tragic as Hillsborough was, why should Liverpool get special dispensation to not play on its anniversary? The FA should have put its foot down years ago and stated that where a Liverpool match and their rememberance service clashed, the match would take precedence. Otherwise, Liverpool would have to forfeit the match and perhaps even take a further three point penalty for failing to fulfill a league fixture, as per Middlesborough in the late 90s.
