Alan Davies...
Re: Alan Davies...
To be fair, a more fitting way to remember the 96 who died would be to play on the day and win, dedicate the victory to them.

It took them 20 years to publicly acknowledge the events and only because they drew Juventus in Europe that year and seemed to think that a card display was sufficient to placate angry Italians. The same fans who claim that April 15th is too sensitive to play football matches on, seem to forget all about Heysel and that's not even mentioning their 'fans' taunts about Munich to Man. Utd supporters.
Hard to disagree with this post. They (Liverpool) demand respect for Hillsborough (a massive fuck up and poorly handled by the police and media) but are hypocritical vis-a-vis Heysel. It swings both ways.

Too right. Its always Hillsborough and never Heysel with the victims.I am no Man Utd fan but they never refuse to play on Feb 6th.But they always remember those who perished at Munich. And these sensitive scousers are the same fans who sing sick Munich songs.Perryashburtongroves wrote:The bindippers have always used Hillsborough as a way of deflecting attention away from Heysel. I mentioned that chant in the Chants You Hate thread, the irony of Liverpool fans singing it considering their history leaves a particularly bad smell.

Well said that man.Rocky Number Seven wrote:I've got to say I agree with what he said and dont see why LFC should not play on the 15/4. I understand the view that many people would want to commemorate the day and personally I cannot see a more fitting way than for the two merseyside clubs (lets not forget many everton supporters would have had close relations to those who died) to honour those that lost their lives on that tragic day by playing another FA Cup Semi Final. The opportunity is there for Liverpool FC to remind a worldwide audience of their cause (the so called "Justice" they seek) why not use this opportunity.
I would imagine the FA would also make sure some sort of memorial is held before the game as i am sure they will before the saturday when talk is going to be about what happened 23 years ago anyway so as emotions are going to be fresh why not play the game on the Sunday regardless?
Pure and simply its the victims mentallity coming out again and I am afraid it will do for more than another 23 years down the line.

Was my one of my locals but didn't used to use it on match days ,had to meet some tourists so chose it for convenience one time.SWLGooner wrote:Herd, do you drink there? I've never seen McGrath there, or was this ages back?Herd wrote: The Bailey Holloway road !
Stopped using it as a local after Boris got elected more cameras came into the area and people kept getting stopped and searched and generally harassed. Boris lives up the road and used to get a lot of abuse when passing !
