I would be quite happy to see Walcott and Wenger here for the next decade

Re: Walcott's PR Team
If anything I am the one being wound up by some of the ridiculous comments on this thread.
anyone seriously suggesting selling Walcott obviously havent been watching many games recently.
there is a proper understanding with RVP now that takes time to come together - why on earth would anyone want to break that up?

Re: Walcott's PR Team
Walcott is now on 8 goals and 11 assists in 31 league appearances- a total of 19 of Arsenal's 66 league goals directly involving him.
He is an England international, enjoying an injury free season, regularly completes 90 minutes, clean living, keeps himself away from the media and has scored 42 Arsenal first team goals already at just 23 years old. He is also one of the few who will make a point of clapping the away fans after a defeat whilst others disappear down the tunnel.
Granted, he can be frustrating and readily admits he wants to continue improving. But behind RVP he is our second most important attacking player - and yet some people still think he should leave the club. Bizarre.

Add to the fact Robin absolutley loves playing with him. Them two up front could be fucking lethal.

Let's keep Walnut because he applauds the away fans? Reminds me of that 'he makes everyone laugh!' argument that was being made for keeping Eboue.
I hear Almunia makes a mean paella. 4 year contract extension!

Keeps himself away from the media ?? Are you sure ? I see/read him spouting crap more than any other current player we have and have we any other player that did an exclusive with a womans fcuking magazine ??

Re: Walcott's PR Team
and rvp has more assists and nearly 4 times as many goals.. walcott wants to be on wages close to rvp???...who's doing all the work here!!!!....walcott must do better...but do it at another club...his "frustrating" lack of basic football skills after 6 years of PAMPERING IS SHOCKINGhugh jardon wrote:Walcott is now on 8 goals and 11 assists in 31 league appearances- a total of 19 of Arsenal's 66 league goals directly involving him.

Perhaps van Persie will break up this combination? So, if for example van Persie leaves for Man City/Barcelona/Madrid, you are in turn advocating Walcott's sale.Red Member wrote:If anything I am the one being wound up by some of the ridiculous comments on this thread.

No - I said let's keep Walcott because of his goals and ability - as I posted. Applauding the away fans was part of his character description.1989 wrote:Let's keep Walnut because he applauds the away fans? 42 first team goals at the age of 23. I wonder if you lot will still be slagging him off when he joins the 100 club?

Re: Walcott's PR Team
Depends how long it takes him to get there!!

Re: Walcott's PR Team
the thing is, even if walcott scores a hattrick in every game he plays, alongside making at least 1 goal line clearance every half, and then after each game posts an online blog of him setting fire to spurs shirts and waiting until they're just embers before pissing on them to put the remnants of the fire out, most people on here will still think he's shit!
i've said it before and i'll say it again: walcott's a victim of his own talent, because he's good enough to get himself into a lot of very good positions, but only manages to "deliver" (basically score a goal, cos even rolling it across the 6 yard line for someone else to score isn't good enough) about a quarter of the time. unfortunately this gets people frustrated because they focus on the ones he effs up.
i really feel sorry for ox chambo, cos he's got all this to come. oh, you think he's the second coming of the lord? will you still think that in 3 or 4 years when it turns out that he actually is human, and will sometimes shoot when he should cross, or will play a poor ball into the box when we're chasing a game, or maybe will take on a full back a couple of times and lose posession.
my REAL problem here, is that walcott IS a useful player. he scores goals and he creates chances, but for some reason it seems he must only be judged against how good people wish he actually was, rather than just judging him for what he is.
who actually believes arsenal will be a better team for not having him? of course we can get in a better player to replace him, but then would you really rather have chamakh coming off the bench instead of walcott should whoever this unnamed player is happen to have a quiet game? and before anyone gives it the "ready made replacement waiting" argument, see above.
i really don't mean to rant, and i'm not even much of a walcott fan, but suggesting we should let him go on a free considering our squad is not even just stupid, it's mentally retarded and fuelled by blind, entrenched hatred!

Ok what talent is that exactly ? I mean I know he is fast but what else is top level standard ? I think if you said he is a victim of his own lack of talent then we might be closer to the truth.

Nobody expects any player to be perfect and that includes the ox but right now, at 5yrs younger than feo, he is as fast, is way better than him at dribbling and taking players on and he can shoot and cross better than walnut so shouldnt that be reason to put our hopes on him ahead of feo ?

Nobody is denying that he is "useful" but players who are useful do not command wages anywhere close to the 100k per week level that he is seekingAlso would you not agree that the ambition of every club and it's fans is to be better and that if so shouldnt a team be aiming to have "useful" players in the squad but better quality players in your starting 11 ?

Re: Walcott's PR Team
I would like to approach this discussion from another angle.
Who else currently in the squad can play wide right?
Oxlade-Chamberlain - Great prospect, but at 18 no way will he play every game.
Gervinho - Not seen evidence so far that he is better than Walcott, but deserves a season to get used to a new league.
Rosicky - I suppose he could play wide right if needed, though he seems to have found his niche in the middle.
Benayoun - Good squad player but indications are that he will not be with us next season.
Ramsey - Would not surprise me to see him play wide right purely on the basis that Wenger does not seem to know what to do with him, but he has been in poor form for much of this season.
RvP - Has played there for us before, but I cannot see much sense in moving him back there when he has been scoring so many as the central striker.
Afobe - An unproven central striker who had a few minutes wide right prior to injury.
Jenkinson - Have read some fans saying he could be tried there because of his crossing, but no evidence Wenger has plans for him in midfield.
Miyaichi - Good prospect, but still young and deserves a season to fight his way into the team. As yet is unproven at fitting into our team, though has essential Premier League experience.
Aneke - Unproven prospect.
Arshavin - Played there in Russia, but on loan and looks unlikely to return.
Bendtner - On loan and looks unlikely to return.
So if we sell Walcott we have to replace him and that would mean an "As you were" status for the squad, rather than progress.
If we buy say Adam Johnson as well as keeping Walcott, then it makes things very interesting indeed.
But to sell Walcott, who has now got double figures scoring this season?
I am also very dubious as to the 100k a week wage figure being discussed as any more than a bargaining position.
